FAQ. Q: IS TRAINING WITH EMS HARMFUL, ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS? A: No, the training is not at all dangerous. Electro Muscular Stimulation has been used by chiropractors, physicians and osteopaths for decades, but only recently has it started to make headway in personal training. The system itself use a very low voltage electrical impulses. The electrical impulses only target the skeletal muscles and not the organs of the body. Q: SHOULD I AVOID EMS TRAINING IF I HAVE CERTAIN HEALTH COMPLICATIONS? A: Most people can use EMS training but if you have a certain health condition that prevents you from participating in conventional sport, we would advise you to get an approval from your doctor. Unfortunately, it will be unsafe for users with the following conditions to use the system. Do not use the system if you are: • Pregnant • Using a heart pacemaker • Suffering from severe circulatory disorder & arterial circulatory disorder Q: IS EMS TRAINING PAINFUL? A: EMS training is no more strenuous than a conventional workout. By the end of the session you will need a rest and a drink of water, depending on the intensity of your workout. The equipment uses low impulse frequency, the experience of receiving the impulses may take a little getting used to, but it is not painful in any way. Q: HOW OFTEN CAN I DO THE TRAINING? A: We recommend that our users train twice or thrice a week to see results. After each training session it usually takes around 24hours for the body to recover and consequently, doing more than the recommended sessions is not advisable. You can train more than thrice a week based on your fitness progression. Q: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONVENTIONAL TRAINING AND EMS TRAINING? A: You only need to work out once or twice per week to achieve comparable results compared to several hours in the gym. This means you can literally save yourself hours per week! The results will come quickest if you workout twice or thrice per week. 26
Q: CAN I USE THE SYSTEM WITHOUT DOING ANY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY? A: This is not how the technology works. The technology enhances the impact of the movements you do, and you must be doing exercises in order to experience benefits. As you work out, the electrical pulses will stimulate the muscles, dramatically improving the efficiency of the exercise routine. Q: SHOULD I LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS WHILE USING THE SYSTEM? A: The Active system provides adequate resistance for an effective and efficient training session. Training tools can be incorporated into sessions as your fitness progresses. However using heavy tools while on strong stimulation can be dangerous as you can overload your muscles. Q: WHAT DOES EMS DO TO MUSCLES? A: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is the elicitation of muscle contraction using low electrical impulses. These impulses mimic the action potential that comes from the central nervous system, causing the muscles to contract involuntary. Q: DO I NEED TO CHARGE THE BOX EVERY TIME AFTER USE? A: The box has 3 hours of run time after every full charge but it is highly recommended to charge the box after every 3 sessions of use. Q: CAN THE BOX STILL BE USED EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY IS RUNNING LOW? A: It is recommended to use the box with sufficient battery as using the box when battery is running low might cause the stimulation to be weak. Q: IF I ENCOUNTER A BROKEN WIRE/PAD ON THE SUIT. CAN I STILL CONTINUE WEARING IT? A: If you encounter any damage on the pads and wires, refrain from using the suit and contact the help line to get it replaced. Please follow the maintenance guideline on the manual to prolong the suit life. Q: CAN I CHARGE AND USE THE BOX AT THE SAME TIME? A: For safety reasons, never charge and train at the same time, when the charging cable is connected to the box the screen will display as charging and it will not allow users to have access to the training functions. Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SUIT IS THE CORRECT SIZE? A: The suit has to be skin tight without any air pockets in between the skin and the suit. This is to ensure that the electrodes are fully in contact with the muscles. Air pockets will cause discomfort during stimulation. Arms/Legs/Waist straps can be worn to secure the suit to the body further. 27
Q: CAN I SUPPLEMENT MY EMS TRAINING WITH MY NORMAL GYM ROUTINE? A: Yes. EMS can supplement your normal gym routine and users can save time and achieve better results by doing so. Q: WHEN SHOULD I DO STRETCHING? BEFORE OR AFTER? A: Its best to do dynamic warm up before training session and stretching after training session. Q: WILL I FEEL MUSCLE SORENESS? A: Yes. EMS allows users to recruit up to 90% muscle fibres during training which will cause users to have muscle soreness like any other trainings. It is recommended to train using EMS 2 to 3 times a week. Users can increase training frequency as they see progression. Q: IS WARM UP NECESSARY FOR EMS TRAINING? A: Warm up is mandatory before EMS training. This is to ensure that the muscles are warm and ready for the training sessions, and also to ensure proper functioning of the electrodes on the suit. The suit will not be able to detect a connection if the muscles are not warm enough. Q: MY BOX IS NOT WORKING, WHAT SHOULD I DO? A: Do not attempt to do any self-repair as damages incurred will lead to a void of warranty. Always check if the box has been charged and also try restarting the device if you face a problem. If the problem persists, contact customer support for further instructions. Q: I CANNOT FEEL THE STIMULATION OR I FEEL A PINCH ON THE SKIN DURING STIMULATION? A: This happens when the skin becomes too dry due to insufficient warm up and hydration. Always start the sessions with dynamic warm ups and hydrate yourself throughout the sessions. When muscles get cold you will not be able to feel the stimulation. Q: HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT FOR THE BOX TO BE FULLY CHARGED? A: The Active box takes 2 to 3 full hours to be fully charged. Please refrain from charging it overnight. Q: HOW HIGH SHOULD I ADJUST MY INTENSITY LEVEL? A: Adjust the intensity according to the type of training you are about to do. Make sure that the stimulation is not too strong as it might result in restricting your movements. Start with a light intensity and progressively increase the intensity. 28
