SUMMER INTENSIVE WHAT TO EXPECT LEVELS 3 & UP Dual Star’s 2019 Summer Intensive Program offers an all-inclusive curriculum under the tutelage of an experienced faculty throughout its two week duration. Incorporating a wide variety of dance styles, we aim to provide a well rounded and comprehensive instruction that will help young dancers grow and prosper during their time with us! We are thrilled to include several guest teachers that offer an enormous amount of experience and expertise in the dance industry.

MEET THE TEACHERS SARAH SCHACHTERLE INTENSIVE 1 & 2 SARAH SCHACHTERLE is a professional choreographer, instructor and director. She has taught master classes throughout the nation, including the world-famous “Boogiezone”, the online platform “Jig TV”, as well as throughout Europe and Asia. As a long-time choreographer and instructor for Universal Dance Association (UDA), Shack’s been a master choreographer with the Varsity program “VROC” and has been a regular judge for UDA’s high school and college National Dance Team Championships as well as the World Hip Hop Championships as seen on ESPN. Her choreography has been performed by several competitive teams ranking top five in the nation. Shack was the director and choreographer for the Denver Nuggets Dancers for over 8 years during which time she choreographed and directed the NBA All Star Game, the NBA Celebrity Game and two Armed Forces Entertainment tours throughout Europe. Sarah is the creator of the NLL Colorado Mammoth “Wild Bunch” Professional Dance team and the “Colorado Crush Girls” for John Elway’s AFL team. She has worked with many national acts such as Ciara, Kelly Clarkson and Destiny’s Child to name a few. Shack toured nationally with Fluid Dance Conventions for 5 years specializing in hip hop, jazz and audition preparation. Now residing in Denver, Colorado, Sarah focuses on teaching classes to adults and provides a no-pressure atmosphere. She continues to work as a freelance artist specializing in stylized jazz and hip hop.
BRENDA O’BRIEN INTENSIVE 2 BRENDA O’ BRIEN has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She studied with Nada Diachenko (Eric Hawkins Technique), David Capps, Toby Hankin (Graham and Horton Technique), Nancy Spanier (choreography), Robin Haig (ballet), Onye Ozuzu, Letitia Williams (African) and Michelle Elsworth (multi-medium choreography). She has been a dance teacher and choreographer for 20 years having worked with South Suburban Parks and Rec as the Director of Ballet, previously coached the Varsity Pom team for Heritage High School and worked with the competition programs at several Denver area studios. Brenda teaches ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, turns and progressions, stretch and strength, PBT, musical theater, hip-hop, pom, and creative movement. Brenda has received numerous choreography awards and her pieces have placed First Overall at competitions including Showbiz, Starpower, JUMP, KAR, and Tribute. She received "Best Varsity Jazz Choreography" at the 2009 UDA Regional and in 2014, her musical theater piece "Money" was the Showbiz Nationals Title Winner in San Diego, CA. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Arts Culture & Management at the University of Denver. She recently received her PBT (Progressing Ballet Training) Junior, Senior and Advanced Level Certification from the founder Marie Walton-Mahon and looks forward to using her knowledge, diverse training and extensive experience to help dancers become the best athletes and artists possible.
MALLAURI ESQUIBEL-HANSEN INTENSIVE 1 MALLAURI ESQUIBEL-HANSEN is a native of Colorado, moved to Los Angeles at 17, Mallauri quickly began making a name for herself. Film/TV credits include: LALA land, Valley Girls, Behind the Candelabra, The Greatest Showman promo/live commercial, FAME, Princess and the Frog, High School Musical 3, Frozen, Amazon, Google, Dancing with the stars, Gilmore Girls, Good morning America, The Academy Awards, Blunt Talk, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bunheads, House, Bones, Vegas,The Mindy Project, CSI, the Grammys, 2008 Beijing Olympics, Billboard Music Awards, Much Music Awards, AMA’s, and VH1 Divas Live. Broadway and stage credits include: Travis Walls “shaping sound” “Wonderland” A broadway musical, Twyla Tharp's “Come Fly Away”, Odyssey Dance Theatre, Evolution Dance Company, AR Rahman “Jai Ho” world tour, and Taylor Swift's RED world tour. She has worked with artists such as Camilla Cabello, JLO, Joss Stone, Florence and the Machine, The Gypsy Kings, Jordin Sparks, Paula Abdul, and Taylor Swift. Mallauri was also the cover model for Dance Spirit in December 2011. Currently she travels and teaches with NRG dance project, and has a true passion for teaching the next generation of dancers.
KATRINA LAIRSMITH INTENSIVE 1 & 2 Katrina Lairsmith, Artistic Director of The Damsels Dance Company has never let anything stop her from dancing and it's resulted in a life of professional accomplishment. As a teenager she watched dancers at a local studio then practiced what she saw at home in her basement. She was selected for the first magnet dance program in Denver, which eventually became the Denver School of the Arts. She also studied at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Studio and at The Edge dance studio in L.A. with Mia Michaels, Terry Beeman, Eddie Garcia, Jackie Sleight, and Wes Veldink among others, and developed her unique style of modern contemporary dance.
JULIE ELLIOT INTENSIVE 1 JULIE ELLIOTT has been dancing for thirty-six years and teaching dance for the past twenty. She received her training at the Metropolitan Academy of Dance where she traveled and performed with the Company. Julie continued to pursue her dance training at the University of Colorado where she was captain of the CU Express Dance Team. Over the years, she was also a member of the Dancewest Divas Performing Company, the Damsels performing company and the Colorado Contemporary Dance Company. Julie has performed many parts in The Nutcracker including the Sugar Plum Fairy, and she has also performed at the 1996 Olympics, the 1996 Orange Bowl, the 2002 Fiesta Bowl, Disney World, and the Universal Dance Association College Dance Team Nationals. She has choreographed dances for numerous musicals and high school poms competitions in the Denver area, and her choreography has won several awards, including “Most Entertaining” and “Best choreography.” Julie has a Master of Science from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and currently works as a physician assistant. She is happily married with three boys.
ASHLEY LAMBERT INTENSIVE 1 & 2 ASHLEY LAMBERT has been with Dual Star for 5 seasons and is currently the Company Director. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2011 with a BA in Dance and a certificate in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship. She also graduated from the Institute of Massage Therapy and Wellness in 2014. Her love of teaching prompted a thesis in dance pedagogy and her return to school to focus on dance kinesiology and injury treatment and prevention as a licensed massage therapist. She was a pre-professional company member at Gateway Contemporary Ballet and danced three years professionally for the Black and White Dance Company in Iowa. Ashley holds over twenty pageant titles as well as choreography awards on both the state and national level.
AUBREY KLINGER FEARNS INTENSIVE 1 AUBREY KLINGER FEARNS began her dance training under the tutelage of her grandmother Nan Klinger, and performed with the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet for ten seasons. Aubrey then spent three year at Point Park University graduating magna cum laude, earning her B.A. in dance performance. Since graduation, she has worked through out the country in both concert and commercial dance. Her performance and choreography credits include; Opera Colorado: Aida, Jacob Mora: Exhibit M, Chicago Improve Group: Octavarious, Thodos Dance Chicago, Apex Contemporary Dance Theater, Renegade Performance Group (NYC), Carnival! Choreographer’s Ball, Dance Chance Chicago, The Dayton Arts Project, Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Welcome Yule!, and So You Think You Can Dance season 9. Currently in her sixth season as principal dancer for Davis Contemporary Dance Company, Aubrey has danced in the premiere of 13 works, and help create the youth company Davis Dance Next Generation. She has also taken on a leadership role within the company as rehearsal director, costumer, and choreographer. When she is not rehearsing with Davis, she teaches dance, fitness, and choreographs through out the country.
DAVID REUILLE INTENSIVE 1 & 2 DAVID REUILLE is the Artistic Director of Apex Dance. As a professional dancer and choreographer, his career has spanned 25 years and 8 countries. He has danced professionally with Lexington Ballet, Louisville Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and Parsons Dance. He performed in the works of master choreographers such as Jose Limon, Donald McKayle, and Tally Betty. David has also danced in new works created by choreographers Bill T. Jones, Dwight Rhoden, Desmond Richardson, Bebe Miller, Ron Brown, and Kevin Ward and has toured nationally and internationally to great acclaim. As a choreographer he has created dances for numerous professional and regional dance companies including: Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Lexington Ballet, AYBT, Illinois Ballet, and Apex Dance. Mr. Reuille has also worked with Curious Theatre on their productions The War Anthology, Curious New Voices, and Dead Man’s Cell Phone. He has received several awards and fellowships for his choreography including the Montgomery County Arts Fellowship. His television credits include the PBS documentary Free to Dance and has taught master classes around the world including the International Dance Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, Poland, the American Dance Festival and throughout the U.S. David has been teaching with Dual Star for 5 years.
KEVIN O’KEEFE INTENSIVE 1 & 2 Kevin O’Keefe is one of Colorado’s original Hip Hop teachers with an extensive background in all Hip Hop Styles. He received training from industry pioneers- Clyde Evans, Eric Finn, and Quickstep. He has performed with; Don Campbell Lock Jr., Electric Boogaloos, Lady Jules, the late Gary Kendall of the Jabbawockeez and is a former member of Motion Underground’s Hip Hop Company EOM. He’s been a guest artist at The Arena in Switzerland, The San Francisco Hip Hop Festival, The Colorado College Dance Festival, The Breaking Pointe in Montana, CU Boulder and C.S.U. Ft. Collins. Kevin is now bringing this unique flavor to many studios in Colorado and is the Founder/Director of True II Form Dance Group. Kevin has begun to spread a fire about the history of Hip Hop and a vision for where it will go. He has been a teacher with Dual Star for 6 years!
