REGULATIONS of the 7th SALON DES PASTELLISTES BELGES Arsenal in NAMUR Bruno Street, 11 5000 NAMUR From 11 APRIL to 19 APRIL 2020 Open to the public, Saturdays and Sundays and Mondays from 10am to 6pm Tuesday to Friday from 1pm to 6pm Opening on Saturday, April 11 from 7pm
Article 1a. Works made only in dry pastel will be accepted. No mixed technique, except for the support, without using any chemical or other process. The selection committee reserves the right of discretion 1b. No theme is imposed. Article 2. Participation in the exhibition implies membership of our association, in return for the payment of an annual fee set at 25€ (2020). Article 3. The registration form for the selection is to be returned by 1 December 2019 by email: lespastellistesbelges@hotmail.com (Please register in the "subject" section of your email: registration fair 2020.) Article 4. Each artist will send, by email only, a maximum of 5 or 6 digital photos of his works, in JPEG format of 800 x 600 pixels minimum to the following email address: lespastellistesbelges@hotmail.com. These photos must be received by December 1, 2019. Be accompanied by a biography of a maximum of 300 words expressing your interest in pastel and your favourite subjects The following information will be provided for each work: author, title, price. The works proposed for selection must have a certain coherence, both in terms of theme and dimension. Be careful, the selection committee will refuse: - any table that does not match the selection photo - Works over 90 cm wide (including framing) - works that have already been exhibited in a previous exhibition of Belgian Pastellists - works that may offend the public's sensitivity. - The pastels presented must be original works of the author only, copies of other artists of the past or contemporary (painters, sculptors) as well as works made during classes or internships will not be accepted. For paintings inspired by photos, the written permission of the photographer is required. Article 5. On the basis of determined criteria (technique, originality, colours, presentation, etc.) an independent jury of the selection committee will award the prizes of the 2020 exhibition. The winner of the 2018 show is out of competition. The guest of honour is out of competition. Article 6. The selection committee is the sole judge as to the choice of works. He does not have to justify his choices. (Selection of works on page 4) Each artist will be personally informed by email, of the jury's decision by March 10, 2020 at the latest. The amount of the hanging rights will then be indicated to him. Only complete applications, received on time, will be considered. Only works that have been selected by the jury may be exhibited (no replacement of paintings will be allowed for hanging)
Article 7. The hanging fee is 20€ per grid. The tables must not exceed 90 cm wide (including the frame) due to the size of the grids. The hanging fees will be paid after the selection. Failure to pay these fees will result in the cancellation of the selection. The payment of the subscription and the hanging rights will be made on the IBAN account: BE64 1430 8147 5152 - BIC : GEBABEBB des Pastellistes belges, 7 rue Mazy at 5001 NAMUR. In the event of withdrawal, all the hanging rights will remain with the association Article 8. 1. The deposit of the selected works will be made on Thursday, April 09, 2020 at the Arsenal, rue Bruno 11, 5000 Namur from 15h30 to 19h3O. The hanging of the works will be carried out exclusively by the organisers to allow a certain coherence in the presentation of the exhibition. The name, title and price of the work will be indicated on the back of the painting. If you are unable to attend, please contact the committee. 2. Exhibitors resident outside BELGIUM : The association accepts to receive your framed paintings. If you send your artwork by carrier, be sure to put it in rigid and reusable packaging. THE "RETURN" SHIPPING COSTS MUST BE PAID INTO THE ACCOUNT OF THE BELGIAN PASTELLISTS BEFORE 10 APRIL 2020 Receipt of pastels sent by carrier before April 1, 2020. The collection of the works is scheduled to take place after the presentation of the public prize on Sunday, April 19, 2020, starting at 6 p.m. The Association "Les Pastellistes belges" declines all responsibility for works not removed within the time limits set. In the event of a major impossibility to withdraw his works, the artist will contact a member of the committee. Article 10. We will take the greatest care of the works entrusted to us. During the exhibition, constant monitoring will be carried out during opening hours. In addition to these, the Arsenal has a security system. Nevertheless, the exhibitor releases the association from any liability concerning risks of any kind whatsoever: theft, loss, damage... during the period from the deposit to the collection of the works. Each artist may personally insure his works if he deems it necessary. Article 11. The price of each work is set by the artist when it is sent to the selection. It is firm and definitive. In order to ensure proper functioning, only the organisers are authorised to bring the potential buyer and the artist closer together. The works sold may only be collected by the buyer at the end of the exhibition, except in special cases. In this case, the organizers decide on the relevance of the request and the sold work will not be replaced. The artist may under no circumstances withdraw a work from sale. -In the event of a sale, the artist will pay a donation of 15% of the price of the work to the association.
Article 12. Exhibitors are required to comply with the tax laws in force in their respective countries. Article 13. The participants authorize the Association "Les Pastellistes belges" to use the photographs of the works exhibited on its website and other means of information. Article 14. The Salon will be open to the public on April 11, 12, 13 and 18 and 19, 2020 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and from Tuesday, April 14 to Friday, April 17, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Article 15. The opening of the exhibition and the award ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 7pm. Artists, if possible, are invited to be present on the day of the opening. Article 16. Registration for the exhibition implies approval of these regulations. Method of selection of works To guarantee the greatest possible impartiality, the selection will be made by a selection committee composed of 5 judges, recognized artists. The selection will be made from computer images reduced to the same size, without any distinctive sign (hidden signature), and marked by a serial number and by the dimensions of the table. The judges will not have access to the artist's name, but will have an overview of the works presented by a candidate. The judges will make their judgments independently of each other, according to their own criteria. Each work will receive a note that will be associated with the work number. All ratings will be centralized by a person not participating in the selection, who will restore the correspondence, work number, title and artist. The selection will be made according to the total number of points obtained. Summary of the 2020 Exhibition By 1 December 2019 (at the latest): 1. Sending photos for selection: -‐ Digital photos: JPEG 800 X 600 at the email address: lespastellistesbelges@hotmail.com . -‐ Note the dimensions (including frame), price, title of each work. 2. Sending of the registration form. 3. The choice of works selected for the exhibition will be communicated to the artists by 10 March 2020 at the latest. The right to hang will be communicated to you after the selection.
Submission of works on Thursday, April 9, 2020 from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Opening and prize-‐giving ceremony on Saturday, April 11 at 7pm. Presentation of the public prize on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 5pm followed by the disqualification of the works at 6pm. We invite you to read the rules carefully.
