Here are a few ideas to save even faster: 1. Have a clear glass jar for each person in your family and then race to see who can fill their jar the fastest. Once you have full jar, deposit it into your savings account and start over. 2. Pick up every penny you see lying on the sidewalk. Believe it or not, they add up fast. Before you know it you could be winning the fill the jar race. 3. Ask your parents if you can earn some extra money by doing a chore that’s not normally on your list. For example, maybe you can take on vacuuming the living and bed rooms for an extra 50¢ a room. 4. If you get money for a gift, put at least half of it in your jar. 5. Try the “Penny Challenge.” You save one penny your first day, two pennies the second day, three on the third and so on for 365 days. That means you're saving the same amount you did the day before but adding another penny to it. Do this as long as you can. And, if you’re able to save for the entire year (even with some help from your parents), you could end up with $667.95 in a year.
