LIVESTOCK SECTION Exhibitors are required to comply with current TB regulations. For those cattle coming from one and two year testing parishes please note it is a requirement that the animals at the show are tested within 60 days before this show. Compliance with pre-movement testing requirements is the responsibility of the owner/cattle keeper moving the animal(s). Full details can be found on the DEFRA website as follows: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animal-diseases/files/tb-infonote-1202-pre-movement.pdf All Cattle and Sheep must be at the Exhibition Hall by 9.30 a.m. for weighing. Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m. with the Championship being judged at 2.15 p.m. Cattle and Sheep should not be removed until 4.00 p.m. The Wadebridge Prime Stock Show Association are extremely grateful to the sponsors in the Cattle and Sheep section for their generous sponsorship of approximately half of the prize money in each class, with the balance coming from the Show's funds. Procedure – Place a group of 4 cattle in order of merit and give reasons for those placings. The animals will be designated A,B,X,Y. Competitors may handle the live cattle but only in such a way that they do not cause bruising. Excessive handling after a caution from the stewards will result in disqualification. Up to 2 minutes will be allowed for each competitor to give his or her reason to the Judge. Competitors should be comparative rather than descriptive when stating their reasons. 2 marks will be deducted for each 15 seconds (or part thereof) that a competitor goes over the allotted 2 minutes. The marks will be deducted from the competitor’s total. 10 minutes judging – handling allowed. At least 5 minutes – preparing cards for handing to stewards. Scale of marks:- Placings – 100 / Reasons: Accuracy of observations – 25 / Comparison – 15 / Style (including presentation of competitor – 10. Notes: (i) No exhibitor to enter more than two lambs or two pigs. (ii) Pigs and Sheep to be born in year of show. (iii) Rob Trevarthen, Butchers have been appointed to stage the carcase section, with the slaughtering charges being as laid out below. These charges, including MLC levies, are as follows; £30 per pig & £20 per sheep For any entries which are withdrawn prior to the Show, the above slaughtering charges will be refunded. (iv) The Association reserve the right to cancel the carcase section should insufficient entries be received. PLEASE NOTE - All carcases entered must be removed from the Show by the exhibitor at approximately 4.15 pm The Association will arrange for butchers to be present to cut carcasses if required. The Association are very grateful to R & J Trevarthen, Butchers for their assistance in the staging of the carcase section. YFC LAMB CARCASE JUDGING Judge: Mr G Williams (Ed Harris will be taking entries on the day if not entered before). 41 Open to YFC Members who must be 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2018. “Competitors will have 10 minutes judging time to view the lamb carcasses. Competitors will be required to place the four lamb carcasses and grade them in accordance with the MLC Classification system. Up to two minutes will be allowed for each competitor to give their reasons to the judge. Two marks will be deducted for each fifteen seconds that a competitor goes over the allotted two minutes. HOME-MADE WINE, MEAD AND LIQUEUR To be staged by 9.30 a.m. Judges: Mr J Fooks Due to only being able to get 1 judge for this section this year, the entries will have to be restricted to 1 exhibit per exhibitor per class. White plastic topped cork stoppers, removable by hand may be used and not tapered corks or cylindrical corks requiring a cork screw. Clean corks must be used. Points will be deducted if second-hand (i.e. previously used) corks are employed. All entries must be labelled with a plain white stick-on label 2 1/2in x 1in affixed 1in from the bottom of the bottle and marked with Class and Catalogue Number, and all wines must be named. Rose wines permitted in red wine classes and tawny wines permitted in white wine classes. SPECIAL PRIZES Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association – Cornish Points Championship This show is one of four (Helston, Liskeard (if applicable), Truro & Wadebridge) at which points will be offered towards Prizes of 1st £75 and 2nd £25 in both the open Cattle and Sheep Classes for the exhibitors gaining the most points over the 2018 Cornish winter show season. PL27 7JE Tel: 01208 814489 Fax: 01208 812713 email: livestock@royalcornwall.co.uk GENERAL NOTES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY All the Cattle and Sheep must be at the Exhibition Hall by 9.30 a.m. and cannot be removed under any circumstances until 4.00 p.m. Sheep to be haltered and tied. It would be appreciated if Exhibitors could provide their own straw where necessary. Cattle and Sheep must have been in the ownership and possession of the Exhibitor before the 1st day of October. We recommend that all exhibitors ensure that they have adequate Public Liability Insurance cover. All Protests in the Livestock Section must be made in writing within half an hour of the Class being judged, and a fee of £2.00 to be paid. If the protest is upheld, the fee will be returned. The Committee's decision to be final. Local Classes confined to Exhibitors in the Parishes of St Breock, St Issey, Little Petherick, St Merryn, St Ervan, St Eval, Padstow, St Wenn, Withiel, Egloshayle, St Mabyn, St Kew, St Endellion, St Minver, St Tudy, St Teath, Michaelstow, Lanivet, Cardinham, Blisland, Lanhydrock, Bodmin, St Columb and St Mawgan. All produce etc to be staged before 9.30 a.m. and cannot be removed until 4.15 p.m. Exhibition Hall open 6-7.30 p.m. on Friday for staging of produce (except dead poultry, butter, cream, eggs, milk and cookery which should not be staged until the morning of the Show). The Produce Exhibition will be open from 12 noon - 4 p.m. and Exhibitors are requested to be in attendance at 4.15 p.m. to remove their exhibits. All Protests in Produce Section (Classes 37 - 180) to be made in writing and no Protest will be accepted after 3.30 p.m. Fee of 50p must be paid. If protest is upheld, fee will be refunded. All Roots to be shown with roots and tops complete and must have been grown by the Exhibitor. All poultry to be hatched in 2018. Judges have the power to test Butter, Cream, Eggs, Cookery etc. All garments and other handicraft items must not have been used prior to being exhibited at the Show or shown at this show previously and must have been completed within the last 12 months. The Committee reserve the right to make any alteration they may deem necessary. No person to show more than two lots in any Class. No person judging shall be allowed to exhibit. Livestock and Produce Section prize money must be collected in the Exhibition Hall on the Show Day. The Committee shall not be responsible for any accidents, loss or damage which might occur.
