ID Badges

        All students must wear
        their student ID badges
         throughout the entire
           instructional day.
          - IDs must be worn above the waist.
          - Must present ID in order to ride the bus.
          - Temporary badge costs $1.00.
          - Replacement badge costs $3.00.
          - Failure to wear your ID may result in school
          discipline.

   Cell Phone and Electronic
            Devices
           -No full-sized earphones or personal speakers.
           -Hand it over to school personnel when asked.
       -It is the teacher’s discretion if and when you can
                 use a cell phone in the classroom.

Failure to hand over your electronic device to school
                personnel when asked
     will result in disciplinary consequences!!!

TARDIES

➢ Students are given 6 minutes between classes and
  are counted tardy if they are not in their rooms by
  the time the tardy bell rings.

➢ Being late for class is a tardy.

➢ After 10 minutes into class, it will be counted as
  an absence.

➢ Tardies cannot be excused by teachers, parents, or
  other students.

➢ Excused tardies in the form of admits can be
  issued only by administrators, counselors,
  administrative secretaries and the nurse.

➢ Excessive tardiness will result in disciplinary
  action.

➢ Tardy count is accumulated by semester.

               FREEZE
 No one is allowed to leave the room for the
   first & last 10 minutes of each period.

Specific Guidelines/Restrictions for
          Student Dress and Grooming Guidelines
Dress and Grooming Violations
• Students who come to school in violation of the district and/or campus dress
    code must correct the violation by changing into appropriate attire or have a
    parent bring appropriate clothing.
• Students who have a question about the appropriateness of an item should
    discuss the specific issue with the appropriate staff member before wearing
    the item.
• Students will receive disciplinary consequences upon the second dress code
    violation.

Pants – must be worn at the waist or upper hip and must not reveal
underclothing. Holes/cuts/rips in jeans must be mid-thigh or below, unless
wearing legging underneath. No sagging, baggy, or revealing jeans.

Shorts and Skirts - must be fitted at the waist or upper hip, must not reveal
underclothing, and must be mid-thigh in length or longer. The bottom of
shorts & skirts must hit the bottom of finger tips when arms are
extended fully.

NO ROMPERS - Rompers are defined as any one-piece garment that connects
the blouse to shorts.

Tops, Shirts and Blouses must not reveal underclothing, midsection, torso,
back, chest, breasts, or cleavage. Also, spaghetti straps, strapless, backless, low
cut or short tops are prohibited. Graphics and wording on t-shirts must be school
appropriate.

Dresses – must not reveal underclothing, midsection, torso, back, chest, breasts,
or cleavage and must be mid-thigh or longer in length.

Shoes –House shoes/house slippers or soft-soled shoes of any kind are not
allowed.

Head Coverings – no type of head covering is to be worn with the exception of
(1) a cap or hat that is part of a uniform worn at a school activity or (2) for
religious or medical purposes. Knit/crocheted caps, beanies, berets, silk
shower caps, bandanas, scarves, and head wraps are not allowed.

Underclothing – must not be visible; pajamas/loungewear are prohibited.

WHAT TO DO IF………………..
Absences
You have been absent -
      ➢ Bring a note from a doctor or parent/ guardian to the
          attendance office within 3 days of the absence.

You have missed more than 10 days of any class within one
semester-
      ➢ Meet with your Assistant Principal to arrange to make up the
          days you missed, so you can avoid losing credit due to
          excessive absences.

You need to leave school early -
   ➢ Go to the attendance office before school with a note from home
        that has a phone number where a parent/ guardian can be
       reached.

You want to leave your classroom -
   ➢ Request a pass from your teacher. If allowed to leave, your
       teacher will give you a pass.

Backpacks/ Purses
You want to carry a backpack –

   ➢   Only clear backpack will be permitted. Band and athletic bags,
       as well as drill and cheer team bags, will still be permitted.
   ➢   The maximum purse size permitted will be 6” x 9” x 5”
   ➢   2 additional - 6” x 9”x 5” will be permitted.
   ➢   Large stickers are not permitted.

Bus Transportation
*Must show student ID in order to ride CFISD transportation.
You need to find out what bus you ride-
       ➢ Go to the Cypress Fairbanks website http://www.cfisd.net/
           and click on “Parents & Student”, then click on
           “Transportation”

You want to ride another bus to a friend’s house -
      ➢ Students may only ride their assigned bus. Please make
           your own private transportation arrangements when you are
           planning to visit friends.

You want to ride the late bus after school -
      ➢ Students may ride the late bus only if they have permission.
           You must have an ID, and hand stamped with official activity
           bus stamp from coaches/sponsors or the study hall teacher.

Cell Phones & Electronics
You want to use your cell phone during class-
      ➢ Teachers have the SOLE discretion of allowing students to use
           electronic devices in the classroom. Check with each of your
           teachers to find out their individual cell phone/ electronic policy.

Your cell phone is confiscated by a staff member -
   ➢ A parent/ guardian will have to come pick it up and pay a $15.00 fee
       in the AP’s office (7AM – 4:30PM).

You want to listen to music between classes and at lunch-
   ➢ Due to safety issues, you may not listen to music on personal
      portable speakers at any time. You are allowed to listen to
      music with ear buds during your lunch period.

Clinic/ School Nurse
You become ill -
   ➢ Notify your teacher to get a pass to the clinic.
   ➢ Do not call someone to come and get you. All dismissals for
       illness will come from the clinic

You need to take medicine -
       ➢ Parent must take all medications to the nurse’s office.

College Visits
You want to miss school to visit a college or university-
Only juniors and seniors are permitted excused college visit days. You must
obtain a college visit permission form from the attendance office. Have your
parent(s)/ guardian sign the form prior to having your assistant principal sign it.
Turn in the form with the stamp from the college or university to the attendance
office upon your return to school.

Entrance to the Building
Entering the building in the morning
       ➢ There will only be 7 entrance doors to the building open
           6:40AM – 7:30AM; Main Entrance, Athletics Hall, Auditorium
           Hall, Art Hall, Commons Doors, and Pool Door.
       ➢ No students will be allowed into the building before
           6:40AM, unless arrangements have been made with a
           teacher.

Fees & Fines
You need to pay a recent fee or fine-
       ➢ Pay each club sponsor directly.
You need to clear an old Fee/ Fine –
       ➢ Students should go to the finance office in the main office
           after school or during lunch. The finance office is available
           to parents making payments from 8:00 AM to 3:00PM on
           school days.

Final Exams Exemptions
You wish to exempt your final exam-
       ➢ You must maintain a minimum of an 80 nine-weeks average
           and have not missed more than 3 days of class for any
           reason. The only absences that are exempt from the 3-day
           rule are college visits and school field trips.

ID Badges
You need a new ID card –
       ➢ You will receive a school ID on the first day of school, when
          you pick up your schedule.
       ➢ Temporary IDs are available at the kiosk near the main
          entrance. Temporary IDs cost $1.00.
       ➢ You MUST wear your ID Badge whenever you are on
          school property.

Library
You want to go to the library -
      The library is open to students, before school, after school and
      during lunches.

Lunch
You want to have food dropped off to you –
      ➢ No food deliveries are accepted from restaurants or delivery
           services (Ubereats, DoorDash).

You want to leave campus during your lunch-
      ➢ Cypress Ranch HS is a ‘Closed Campus’. You may not
           leave campus to purchase lunch and return. Only a parent
           or guardian, through the attendance office, may obtain
           permission for you to leave campus during the school day.
           Anyone found off campus during the school day will be
           considered truant and will receive disciplinary
           consequences.

Parking Lot Access during the school day
You need to go to your car during the school day-
       ➢ Student must go to the AP office for permission to go to their
           car parked on Cypress Ranch property.
       ➢ Students in the parking lot without The parking lot pass will
           be disciplined for skipping.

Parking Permits
You want to park your car on campus-
      ➢ Only student with a valid driver license are permitted to park
           on campus.
      ➢ Parking permit application is found online in student’s School
           Cash Online account.

Teacher Concerns
You have a question about classroom procedures, grades, etc.-
   ➢ Contact the teacher. It is the most direct way to have concerns
      addressed. In most situations, you will be asked to speak with
      the teacher directly before administrative intervention.

Textbooks
You want to check out textbooks-
   ➢ Most classes will have class sets of textbooks or online access
      only.

Transcripts
You want a transcript of your record -
   ➢ See the Registrar. Mrs. Meredith’s office is located next to the
      attendance office on Main Street.

Vending Machines
You want to make a purchase from a vending machine-
   ➢ Vending machines are in the Commons area and in the Fine Arts
      hallway. You may only make purchases before school, during
      lunch and after school. You may not purchase items during or
      between classes.

VOE (verification of enrollment)
You need a VOE in order to obtain a driver’s license-
   ➢ See the secretary at the front office to fill out a request. You
       must allow a minimum of 3 days processing time.

General Information
You want advice about schedules, personal problems, college,
trade school, etc. -
        ➢ See your counselor at ‘Counselor’s Corner’ during your
           lunch or make an appointment with the counselor’s
           secretary.

You need to see a counselor -
       ➢ Scan your counselor’s QR code to make a request.

You need to see an Assistant Principal –
   ➢ Go to the Assistant Principal’s office before or after school, or
      with a pass.

You want information about any phase of school. –
      ➢ Read the Student handbook, ask a teacher, counselor, or
           assistant principal.

assignments, and grade information.
