Personal Tutors
At the start of your course you will be allocated a Personal
Tutor who is your first point of contact for academic advice
and personal/professional development. They are there to give
a personalised approach to your Higher Education experience.

Your Personal Tutor will meet with you to discuss your progress. You will usually have at
least two scheduled one-to-one meetings over the year, one in each semester.

Individual tutorials are key to building a good relationship with your Personal Tutor and
provide you with an opportunity to discuss any emerging issues you feel are important.
Agenda items for individual tutorials may vary depending upon your programme of study
and your individual needs.

In addition to the one-to-one scheduled meetings which are specifically tailored to your
needs, you will also attend and participate in group tutorial sessions that cover a range of
topics including all you need to know about studying effectively.

Your tutor can provide you with guidance in academic matters, as well as information
about where to go for any additional and specialist help and advice you might need e.g.
careers, study skills, counselling, etc.

                                                                                               5

How results are announced
You will receive an email to your College email account after the mid-year Assessment

giving details of your academic results and details of any re-assessments that you need
to undertake. Reassessments will be scheduled after the end of Semester B. These
arrangements will vary for mid-year start students with the mid–year board in July and
