Digging into dormant bloodlines for second-day prospects jaywalking By Jay Bergman BergmanJay Anyone who goes to a yearling sale or for that matter chooses to bid online, has a hope that they can come away with one of the best horses in the sale. Regardless of the price point one can reach, there are always bargains to be had, and pedigrees that appear dormant and are just waiting to come to life. The second day of the Standardbred Horse Sale at Timonium is likely to produce some sleepers that by virtue of their sires or maternal lines will leave a few viewers quickly turning the page while others will go back four or five generations to see a glimmer of hope. It is with that in mind that we attempted to take a deeper look at some with optimism that 2021 may in fact be a breakout year for pedigrees with roots in the 1970s. Starting off the quest will be HIP 165, a filly from the first crop of Huntsville.
