St. Clair Region Conservation Authority SEASONAL CAMPING PACKAGE 2020 Seasonal Camper: Welcome back for 2020! We hope you have had a great winter and are excited for the upcoming camping season. This year, the campgrounds will open on Friday, April 24th and close on Thanksgiving Day. Again this year, staff will be working with camper volunteers to deliver the many events and activities available in your Conservation Area. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the past and future volunteers for offering their time to fundraise for, organize, and deliver the many wonderful events throughout the season. To find out what is happening on a particular weekend, please check the in-park event boards or see your Conservation Area staff. The following documents are included in this package: • New in 2020 • 2020 Conservation Area Fee Schedule • 2020 Seasonal Camping Application o Review this form and select your payment option for this year. Include your fees for pump out, golf cart, and exterior fridge or freezer with your full or first instalment payment. Please sign and return the Seasonal Camping Application with your payment. • Seasonal Camping Regulations • Seasonal Campsite Standards • Seasonal Camping Discount/Refund Policies • Exterior Fridge and Golf Cart Policies • Hydro Conservation: Wise Use Saves Money • Recycle Often/Recycle Right (Waste Management Recycling Guidelines) Please take the time to review the important information provided in this package and become familiar with the rules and regulations which govern the operation of the Conservation Area. If you have any questions please contact: • Greg Wilcox, Manager of Conservation Areas (519) 245-3710 x216, gwilcox@scrca.on.ca • A.W. Campbell Conservation Area (in-season) (519) 847-5357, campbell@scrca.on.ca • L.C. Henderson Conservation Area (in-season) (519) 882-2280, henderson@scrca.on.ca • Warwick Conservation Area (in-season) (519) 849-6770, warwick@scrca.on.ca
NEW IN 2020 Please review the following items to ensure you are aware of changes within the campgrounds. Overnight Camping has Upgraded to an On-line Reservation System! • SCRCA has contracted the CAMIS reservation system to enable on-line reservations. If you have friends/family that book campsites within our parks, they will be able to make a reservation on-line at www.scrca.on.ca starting January 6, 2020. Reservations can also be made directly through the campgrounds starting March 16, 2020. Change to Seasonal Camping Permit Dates • The 2020 camping season will be from Friday April 24th until Thanksgiving Day. Seasonal permits will be inclusive of these dates, not April 15th to April 15th as was the case in the past. Deposit Required in the Fall of 2020 to hold Seasonal Site for 2021 • In an effort to better manage our seasonal sites, we will now require a $200 non-refundable deposit by Thanksgiving Day to hold your seasonal site for the following year. This is not an additional cost, just a deposit that will be deducted when paying the balance of your seasonal fee. Those not planning on returning the following year will need to remove their trailer and property at the end of the season. Knowing which sites will be vacated allows staff to prepare the site prior to opening so new campers can make use of the site for the entire season. SCRCA Staff will Increase Involvement in Campground Events • Part-time staff will be hired to rotate through the three campgrounds on weekends in July and August to assist with/provide camper events. This is not meant to replace the existing events run by campground volunteers. Staff will provide a baseline of events at each park and volunteers will be invited to help with these events and continue to organize their own. These staff will be funded by SCRCA and will not have access to the existing or future camper funds (funds raised by volunteers in the parks). Improving Communications with Campers • Each campground will have its own email address that will be posted on signs at locations throughout the park. During hours when the park is staffed, the email account will be checked regularly. If you are unable to find staff, please send an email with your questions/concerns and staff will respond as quickly as possible. Emails will be monitored by the associated campground Superintendents and Assistants, allowing for quick response times.
o A.W. Campbell Conservation Area: campbell@scrca.on.ca o L.C. Henderson Conservation Area: henderson@scrca.on.ca o Warwick Conservation Area: warwick@scrca.on.ca • Please provide a current email when you submit your seasonal application. We will be creating an email list for each campground to communicate important updates. This will be for updates relating to site conditions, utility outages, pool closures, etc. Facebook and bulletin boards will still be used for some communications. • Seasonal campers will be sent an on-line survey at the end of the season. This will provide an opportunity for campers to provide feedback. From this feedback, we will be able to adapt to the needs of campers and provide a better camping experience. Golf Carts Required to have Site Number Visible on Front and Back • Each golf cart must have the site number (at least 3” tall) on the front and back of the cart. Failure to have your site number posted on the cart may result in the loss of golf cart privileges.

St. Clair Region Conservation Authority HYDRO CONSERVATION: WISE USE SAVES MONEY In an attempt to control increasing utility costs in our campgrounds, we have included some helpful tips to assist you in keeping our utility costs and, ultimately, your camping fees down. Hydro Conservation Reminders: 1. Ensure that all exterior lights are turned off when you retire at night or when you are not at the trailer. 2. Trailer air conditioners should be turned off when you are not at the trailer, only operated when needed, and be inspected regularly to ensure they are operating efficiently. 3. Golf carts should be recharged during “off peak” hours (11 pm to 7 am). 4. Exterior refrigerators or freezers must be energy efficient, operated only when they contain items, and sized to meet your needs. An old, inefficient fridge in a hot shed will unnecessarily waste hydro and affect the hydro usage in your trailer. 5. Please ensure that your power cord is one continuous cord from your trailer to the campground power outlet and that you inspect it regularly for any damage or ware. 6. During cold temperatures use trailer furnace rather than electric space heaters. To reduce water usage: 1. Please ensure that your water hose connection to the campground tap is tight and that no water leakage is evident. 2. Keep shower length to a minimum and ensure that the shower has been turned off when you are finished showering. 3. Lawn watering is prohibited.
