MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear St. Agnes School Parents, AAAHHHHH - Easter break is finally upon us :). It certainly has been a whirlwind since our last holiday, President’s Day. During this time our sports teams have been very fortunate that they have been able to practice and compete. This is something that we weren’t even sure was going to be possible this school year. Many thanks to our coaches and Athletic Director, Mr. Jesse Guzman, for their organization of safe practices and competitions. We appreciate all of your hard work to make all of this possible this school year. We’ve also been fortunate/blessed that we have been able to conduct in-person learning for 146 school days - WOW!!! This is due to our students washing hands frequently, wearing masks, distancing appropriately and diligently maintaining the sanitization and disinfection of the school building (thank you maintenance staff!!). With the upcoming break, I ask that you remain diligent with mask wearing and social distancing when out in public and among non- family members. When we return on April 12 we still have 32 days of school remaining - 32 days that we wish to keep our doors open. Please assist us by doing your part over the break to remain safe. Thank you. Tuition Assistance Families who are in need of Tuition Assistance for the 2021-2022 school year can complete the forms online at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid. If this is the first time that you have utilized this service, you will first need to create an account. After that is completed, you’ll then follow the steps to complete the forms. There is a deadline of May 1 to have your application processed. 8th Grade Scholarship Opportunities St. Agnes School and Parish offers to 8th graders four scholarship opportunities for students continuing their Catholic education. Earlier this week, 8th grade students and parents were emailed applications for the following: the St. Agnes Parish Scholarship, the Monsignor Patrick J. Wright Memorial Scholarship, the Edward Goetz Memorial Scholarship, and the Sr. Mary Joan Sorge, O.P. Scholarship. These applications must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Cunningham by Tuesday, April 13. Water Bottles This is a friendly reminder that all students are to bring water bottles to school. The devices on the fountains are available to students throughout the day to refill their water bottles. Many students have been requesting cups from the classroom teachers so they may get a drink of water. We do have cups on hand, but they are for emergency purposes - not for everyday use. Before leaving home and exiting the car in the morning, please check with your child(ren) to make sure they have their water bottle with them. Thank you!! 2
Confirmation/First Communion There will be one more opportunity this school year to celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion at St. Agnes Parish with Fr. Dan. This has been scheduled for Sunday, April 18 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. If any third graders still need to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation/First Communion or any fourth thru eighth graders still need to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, please use this linkhttps://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040A4FA5AF2FAAFB6-april to make a reservation for this date. After April 18, those that are still in need of receiving the sacrament(s) will have to do so at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. More information regarding this can be obtained from Mrs. Becker. Second Grade Confirmation/First Eucharist Retreat The first Confirmation/First Eucharist Retreat for our second graders will be held on Saturday, April 17 from 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. (this includes attending the 4:30 p.m. Mass) in the Parish Center. Because of Covid precautions, this retreat is limited to each child and 1 adult parent/sponsor. Please use the Sign-up Genius link to register: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040A4FA5AF2FAAFB6-sacrament1. Spring Pictures Spring pictures have arrived and the packet of them was sent home with your child on Tuesday of this week. If you wish to keep any of the photos, please follow the instructions included in the packet so that you may pay for them online. If you do not wish to keep any of them, please send the packet back to school with your child. Tentative Calendar Dates Attached to this newsletter is a listing of tentative calendar dates for the 2021-2022 school year. This will allow you to start planning your schedules for the upcoming months. These dates are tentative and are subject to change. And so, we have completed our “march” through the month of March and April is upon us. I wish all of you a very happy and blessed Easter. Enjoy time with your families over this long break. Again, please remain diligent with social distancing and masking and stay safe!! Remember, there are still 32 days of school to complete after we return :). That’s all for now. Until after the break . . . . . Blessings to you all, Mrs. Cunningham 3
ABSENTEES Each parent/guardian is required to notify the school office if a child will be absent that day. Homework requests may be made at this time for absences. Parents should call the school office prior to 8:30a.m. and may leave a message on the school answering machine if the secretary cannot be reached. An email may also be sent to Pam Kink, School Secretary (pkink@stagnescatholicschool.org). A call or email should be made each day the student is absent, unless it is known that the child will miss several consecutive days. If such is the case, the school can be informed with the first phone call/email of the consecutive absence and the reason. LATE ARRIVALS & EARLY DISMISSALS Each parent/guardian is required to notify the school office if a child will be arriving late or leaving early for an appointment. A written note in advance of the appointment is to be sent to the school office through the teacher for the release of a student from school for doctor, dental or other appointments. Emails may be sent to the teacher and to Mrs. Pam Kink (pkink@stagnescatholicschool.org) as well. A parent must personally pick up the child at the school office. A student must check in at the school office upon returning from an appointment to get an admit slip to return to class. REMOTE ATTENDANCE If your child must remain home for a period of up to 14 days due to being quarantined (and they’re feeling well and are able to complete school work), please utilize the following Remote Learning Daily Attendance Google form link (https://bit.ly/remoteattendance) to sign them into school for remote learning (even if working offline) by 8:30 a.m. the mornings that they are gone. GRADE K We are having bread and wine (grape juice) to learn about the Last Supper. The school will watch the Stations of the Cross performed in church. We will use our books that we made to follow along. Please have a blessed Easter! Enjoy your break! Thank you to all of the students who donated money. We couldn’t do it without you! Looking ahead, our April Spirit Day will be a Career Day.
