March 12, 2020 Dear Members, With summer approaching, we can look back at the exciting promotional activities in the partnership marketing community from the early Spring season. There were so many great programs, in fact, that it’s a shame we can only showcase a few. As always, you can pull up thousands of programs on Market- ingPartnerships.com, but here are a few from the current season. On the following pages, we have showcased Walt Disney Studios’ ONWARD, Paramount Pictures’ SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, Warner Bros. Entertainment’s BIRDS OF PREY and Universal Pictures’ DOLITTLE, repre- senting some of the biggest releases in theatrical partnerships over the past couple of months along with a variety of recent entertainment partnerships across a spectrum of activities. It’s been an eventful last few weeks with coronavirus precautions forcing us to postpone the Industry Insights Summit until June 1-3, 2020 but we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our members. Walt Disney Studios’ ONWARD Walt Disney Studios partnered with McDonald's for a Happy Meal program promoting the release of ONWARD in theaters. The partnership consisted of a Happy Meal program in which ONWARD branding was used on McDonald's Happy Meals in addition to Happy Meal toys patterned after the characters. McDonald's Happy Meals included 1 of 9 different ONWARD toys which depicted characters as well as creatures and objects from the film. In addition to the contents and packaging of the Happy Meals, there was ONWARD signage in-store at McDonald's locations as well as the McDonald's website. Walt Disney Studios’ ONWARD Walt Disney Studios partnered with Ashley HomeStore on a promotion celebrating the release of ONWARD in theaters. Disney collaborated with Ashley HomeStore on the ONWARD Sweepstakes which offered fans the chance at magical prizes with no purchase necessary. Fans went online to the Ashley HomeStore site and completed an entry form to be entered to win one of the ONWARD-themed prizes. Sweepstakes prizes included tickets for two to see ONWARD in theaters as well as a $4,000 shopping spree to an Ashley HomeStore of the winner's choosing. Walt Disney Studios’ ONWARD Walt Disney Studios partnered with Old Navy to promote the theatrical release of ON- WARD. The partnership consisted of an Old Navy collection of merchandise inspired by the characters, branding and world of ONWARD. The collection consisted of limited- edition tees, jackets and backpacks featuring magical creatures from the film. The limited edition featured products for both Boys and Girls while being available online and at Old Navy retail locations while supplies lasted. Paramount Pictures’ SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Paramount Pictures teamed with Jack in the Box for a promotion celebrating the theat- rical release of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. In collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog, Jack in the Box relaunched their Tiny Taco menu item through a buzzworthy digital campaign, breaking barriers across various platforms. Pushing a teaser bumper through YouTube, trending during the Super Bowl, dropping physical markers which triggered AR giveaways, and a full blown social takeover – you couldn’t have missed Sonic and his tiny tacos if you tried. Warner Bros. Entertainment’s BIRDS OF PREY Warner Bros. Pictures formed a partnership with Splat Hair Color to make it the Official Hair Color Partner of BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN). The partnership allowed fans to recreate main character Harley Quinn's famous two-tone look using Splat's semi-permanent Pink Fetish and Blue Envy shades in 20 minutes or less. Warner Bros. collaborated with Splat to allow Splat retailers nationwide to began carry- ing seven limited edition BIRDS OF PREY color kits. These kits, which hit retailers January 1, 2020, featured Harley Quinn, Black Canary and Huntress on the packaging. The colors included in the BIRDS OF PREY kits were Lightening Bleach, Pink Fetish, Blue Envy, Crim- son Obsession, Purple Desire, Midnight Amethyst and Midnight Indigo. Additionally, the partnership was promoted with a global in-dealership campaign at 650+ locations that took the form of a U.S. consumer sweepstakes. For the consumer sweep- stakes in the U.S., one lucky person had the chance to win a BIRDS OF PREY branded Tri- umph Street Triple bike as the main prize. Pictures partnered with Burger King for a promotion that celebrated the re- lease of BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) in theaters. Warner Bros. collaborated with Burger King on an "anti-Valentine's Day" promotion in which fans could bring a physical photo of an ex-flame into select Burger locations, drop it in a BIRDS OF PREY-themed breakup box and then receive a free Whopper. New York loca- tions also accepted love letters and romantic gifts in exchange for the free Whopper offer. Beginning February 6, 2020, one location in New York was decorated in the style of Harley Quinn which Burger King encouraged fans to share via social media using the hashtag #BurgerQuinn. The complete Grand Prize pack- aged included 4 round trip tickets in the form of Frontier Airlines vouchers; 4 tickets to attend the world premiere screening of DOLITTLE on January 11; 2 night hotel accom- modations; and 3-day Car Rental (full-size vehicle) provided by Avis Rent A Car. The partnership made Nature's Path EnviroKidz the offical cereal partner of DOLITTLE. The partnership was promoted with on-pack branding featuring DOLITTLE. In addition to the on-pack promotion, select boxes of Nature's Path EnviroKidz cereals also included DOLITTLE characters cards. Fans and customers were encouraged to col- lect all 8 of the DOLITTLE character cards by purchasing Nature's Path Envirokidz cereals.
