We don’t know the exact date this was taken, but it can’t be post-1893 because there’s no Memorial Opera House! LEFT | DEMOLITION OF AN ICON HOTEL LEMBKE C. APRIL 1988 Porter County has been without Hotel Lembke for 30 years. Charles Lembke financed, designed, and oversaw the construction but died before the hotel opened on September 19, 1923. POCO MUSE EXHIBITS First Floor, Robert Cain Gallery | Residence SELLING THE DREAM: BARTLETTS’ BEVERLY SHORES This featured exhibit asks visitors to imagine stepping off the South Shore Line in the 1930s to explore the Bartletts’ resort community on the shores of Lake Michigan. This exhibit was made possible through a matching grant from Indiana Humanities in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities. First Floor, Bullpen | Jail SPRING INTO THE ARTS: GRADE 4 ARTWORK Friday, April 20 – Saturday, May 19 | PoCo Muse Spring into the Arts is a month-long festival brought to you by Valparaiso Community Schools (VCS), in partnership with the City of Valparaiso. It is a concept organized and orchestrated by VCS art teachers as well as a committee of educators, businesses, and residents who firmly believe that students deserve meaningful experiences.
