WORLD UNIVERSITY OF PRAYER AND FASTING Missionaries-Church Planters-Leaders and Pastors 31st March 2020 !!! UNEDITED !!! Brother Theodore Andoseh Halleluiah! Spiritual parenting. We want to look at what goes into producing sons or children that are useful to God. Who serve in God's purposes. SPIRITUAL PARENTING : ISAAC AND REBECCA Gen 25:19-26 19 This is the account of Abraham's son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, 20 and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. 21 Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22 The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 The Lord said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger." 24 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. 25 The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. 26 After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. NIV Brethren, the Bible says clearly that flesh gave birth to flesh and spirit gave birth to spirit. The children that will serve in God's purposes come from two wombs, come from two matrixes, a physical matrix: the womb and a spiritual matrix: prayer. Abraham had taken 25 years to pray, to have the child of God's purposes. But to have a normal child, he did not make an effort, he just arrange levirate arranges with his wife. Sarah realised that she had made a mistake but it was too late. When God Himself told Abraham: listen to Sarah and don't mind about your slave woman, it was because Abraham had already entangled emotions. God had to warn Abraham, "do as Sarah has said, don't be thinking about how you will be unfair to this slave girl". So, there was the natural matrix and there was the spiritual matrix. The children that will be useful to God are produced by prayer. 1
When it was Isaac turn, Isaac did not have too many quarrel with God, he himself was a miracle child, so it was easy for him to pray. When you see what we have just read, Isaac had prayed for twenty years, his faith was steady in God, he had no problem with believing God, that is why his life of prayer is only two sentences. There is no trouble chapters, there is just: "He prayed and his wife got pregnant", it took twenty years for that, there was no trouble chapters because his faith was a stable faith. And then also, when Rebekah got pregnant, it was a difficult pregnancy, a lot of kicking in the womb, and she had learned from her husband. When she was in Paddan Haram, she did not know God, but after marriage, after twenty years, the dominant characteristic of the husband robbed on on her. And I was blessed, blessed, many times. Brother Zach blessed me many times. Unfortunately I was foolish, I did not record all eh blessings. The last blessing he gave me was January before he went. When he asked me what should he bless me with? I told him: pray for me that I will rapidly finish my assigned task and go and be with the Lord. So he told me to sit down and he put his hand on me and he said: In the name 2
of Jesus, I bless you with power to carry no weight. I bless you with the power to leave all burdens at the feet of Jesus and to carry no weight, I free your heart from all weight coming from God's service. So you see me like this, see my hear inside, my heart is "like a poêle Tefal". It is about brethren I believe the brethren, I believe wicked people, even when I se that they are wicked, God is stronger than the wickedness of anybody's heart, I received it by blessing. And there are other blessing, I remember patches of them. Spiritual parenting is blessing. Blessing is moulding people spiritually Prayer is moulding people spiritually And blessing is moulding people spiritually. I am not an admirer of Joe Osteen, but his father left a church of about 6000 members, within five years of when he took over, He carried the church to 45000, and he did not complete his studies at the university. One da somebody asked him; what is the secret of your life. He told the person blessing, blessing. He told the person: form when I was small, my mother everyday never allowed to go to school without calling me, no matter how late I am to lay her hands on me and bless me. He said: I have been blessed every day, since I was born by my mother. That is why I am the way I am, that is why things work in my hands. Compare him to you, your own mother spent the time cursing you, "look at you, good for nothing child, you shall see pepper in your life. All that you are doing to me like that, your children will show you pepper". But Isaac, he blessed, he blessed, he blessed, and even when he was blessing the two children, I realised that even Isaac had discern the spiritual condition of the two children clearly. When he taught he was blessing Esau, he blessed him with the blessing of the country and the blessing of the open heaven. He blessed him with food, food, rich blessing, of the rain on the mountain. That is the blessing he gave to Jacob thinking that Jacob was Esau. There is nothing there about God' s purposes (Genesis 27) - Go and see in chapter 28 the second blessing he gives to Jacob, what he has originally intended to bless Jacob with (Genesis 28) - ici, il sort le patrimoine spiritual: la terre, l'alliance et la bénédiction que Dieu a laissé dans l'alliance. We should be very careful about carnality. All the gift so King Saul were outside, he had a big height, all the gifts of Esau, outside: with all his hair, all the gifts of King Saul, outside. In this parental spirituality, we are talking about, the pastors who has people in front of them, only God can help you to know the people in front of you and help you to direct them. Prayer moulds, fasting moulds, that is how we produce those who will be 3
useful to God. I have backsliding a lot in praying for individuals. I used to see temptations that will come for some of my flock long before it comes and prayed for them. In that, I have backslidden and I repent, it is a shame. It is prayer that moulds people that will be useful for the goal;. It is prayer that shows us the place everybody will occupy in the vision. If in the SKSG, if we have time to pray for the student, maybe we will discern and stop consulting flesh for directives. We use prayer, blessing, revelation, to mould those who will be useful to God's purposes. • Pray that our pastors, our leaders, our church planters will pray for their people and so produce those who can be useful for the goal. 4
SPIRITUAL PARENTING: JACOB AND LEAH In Genesis 29: 31-35, we find Jacob and Leah in spiritual parenting. Gen 29:31-35 31 When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren. 32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "It is because the Lord has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now." 33 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Because the Lord heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too." So she named him Simeon. 34 Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons." So he was named Levi. 35 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "This time I will praise the Lord." So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children. NIV All the children of Leah reflected the spiritual condition in which their mother was when they were born. Our spiritual condition is formative. The people who enter your life when you are spiritual will go further than those who enter your life when you are carnal. When the Bible talks about Zacharias and Elizabeth, the coming of John the Baptist as the one who will serve God, was influenced by the same factors, John was a child of prayer. But John was also a reflection of the spiritual condition of the parents. The Bible says, : thee was a priest by the name of Zacharias of the clan of Abiathar, he and his wife Elizabeth were upright in the ways of God, walking in all the ways of God. Zachariah and Elisabeth were not only praying for a child, but the bible draws attention to the spiritual condition in which they were. John the Baptist was born into a matrix of holiness. The parents were walking with God. The parents were righteous before God. The one time that Zacharias doubted, later on influenced John the Baptist, because John the Baptist later on doubted: are you the one who is to come, just like the father had doubted. They stamped their spiritual condition on the child who was born. This is one of the most important factor of spiritual parenting. Abraham lied, Isaac lied. Jacob deceived his father, with the dress of his brother, and Jacob was deceived by his children with the dress of their brother. He carried the brother's dress to go and lie his father, and later on, his sons took their brother dress and pour blood on it to also come and lie to him. The children we produce will carry our spiritual condition. Look at Jacob and Leah, God gave children to Leah, but every time, Leah used the children for her personal battles and her insecurities and for her covetousness, she was looking for a husband's love and every child was just to secure her husband's love, until the fourth child. When Judah was born, she said I am tired, this time, I will praise God. Judah was born when she was at her best spiritually. And in 1 Chronicles 5, the Bible says that Judah became the strongest of his brother and the king is form Judah. 5
The second thing to notice there is the power of proclamation. When every child was born, Leah made a proclamation. Naming is a proclamation. Naming is a proclamation and it shapes the child. So these children were shaped by the proclamation of those who were in authority to them. Naming is a proclamation. If you allow a bad name, you have proclaimed and it will follow. Naming is a prophetic proclamation. Even in the church, Jesus named Peter, he gave Peter a name, proclaiming what he will be He gave James sand John a title, proclaiming where they were. To be in a position of authority like a pastor, like a leader, like a missionary is to be in positon to make prophetic proclamations in the lives of people, and we do it every day: you are a disappointment and the child becomes a disappointment. "you hurt me" and the person will do more. "you are independent" and you have proclaimed". Why can you say like Paul: "you are my joy". Why can you say like Peter: "you are my encouragement'. Why don't you call people: "you are my strength". Why don't you tell some brethren: "you are my glory, you are my pride", why don't we proclaim? And you tell somebody: "you will be the death of me" Les noms que Léa donnait, " Siméon : mon mari va m'aimer" elle prophétisait et ça ne marchait pas.
