1 Introduction
New workloads and business demands require infrastructure that is fast and more efficient. Conven-
tional IT architecture creates silos and complexities because of multiple products and tools that lack
           interoperability.
By bringing servers, storage, networking, and management software together, HPE Lighthouse solution
meets today’s business, and IT needs efficiently. It is all engineered to work together as a single solu-
tion. The result is simplified, yet robust IT that is energy and space-efficient, less expensive, and aligns
to meet the business needs of any workload at any scale.
When ordering a customized or pre-configured solution, the HPE sales personnel, solution architects,
and technical support personnel put together a Customer Intent Document (CID).
The CID stores the requirements of different customers. It contains information on system requirements
and configuration which is used by HPE to build the system according to the customer-provided speci-
           fications.
HPE Smart CID is the Web version of CID. It is a tool that allows you to:
           • Select a system
           • Select a configuration
           • Enter configuration details as per specific business requirements
           • Generate configuration files for build automation
           • Order a customized and pre-configured system

HPE Smart CID is thus an online collaborative tool that aids in customizing the solution as per the cus-
tomer’s data center requirements. Highly intuitive, fast, and time-efficient, HPE Smart CID prevents
incorrect and incomplete data entry, and unbuildable errors and enables a flawless build at the factory
           or on-site.

Features
Here are some of the feature highlights of HPE Smart CID:

           • Web-based: HPE Smart CID is web-based and is accessible from a browser. It is a single location
where all the information on customer requirements can be stored and retrieved from, instead of
having multiple versions with different updates shared over email chains.
           • Simplified Experience:
             • Built-in Validations: HPE Smart CID has built-in validations to ensure that the information
                 entered is complete and accurate.
             • Autofill: It provides default values for hostnames, IP addresses, and passwords to make the fill-
ing up of the CID process faster and more efficient.
             • Context-Sensitive Help: The inline help is context-aware. It progressively discloses the required
information while continuously prompting the users to provide correct data in the related fields.
           • User-friendly and Intuitive Interface: HPE Smart CID’s intuitive and user-friendly interface makes
it easy to enter all the CID information in a single location. The interface is similar to other HPE man-
             agement tools like HPE OneView.

Features 1
• Customized Templates: HPE Smart CID has customized configuration templates which users can
select based on their requirements that aids faster decision-making.
    • SSET and OCA Integration: HPE Smart CID also supports CID creation through SSET and OCA por-
      tals.

3 Known Issues and Workarounds
This chapter details the issues and workarounds for HPE Smart CID.

Common Known Issues
     Issue
The following error is displayed when accessing Smart CID.
            Agentless Integration
            Error Page
This page can show errors on PING connection, JAVA or LADP
            Error: java.lang.Exception: Missing attributes!
            See standard output for details.
     Workaround
Close the browser and open a new browser window to access Smart CID.

Issues and Workarounds - Infra Layout/Tenant CID
     1) Issue
For Aruba 6300, the default rack elevation is populated with standard default values.
       Workaround
User must modify the default values populated in Smart CID UI to desired U locations for Aruba
          switches and proceed.
     2) Issue
The role of Aruba 8325 is now mentioned as compute and not spine.
       Workaround
User must manually modify the role to spine for the required Aruba switches under "infrastruc-
ture > racks > networkSwitches > role” in the base-configuration.json output file.
     3) Issue
In Smart CID UI, the Storage array is not in the same rack as per the placement done in OCA tool.
       Workaround
User must manually locate and move the storage array element to the desired rack under "racks >
storageArrays" in the infra-layout.json output file.
     4) Issue
Enclosure Drive Storage capacity is not getting added to Alletra Storage Capacity.
       Workaround
User must manually add the additional enclosure drive storage capacity under "storageArrays >
expansionShelves > maxProtectedCapacityTB" in the infra-layout.json output file.

                                                                                                            1
Issues and Workarounds - HPE GreenLake Lighthouse for Private Cloud
(GLLHPC)
     Issue
In a GLLHPC CID, the IPs are not auto populated if the server count is higher than the available IPs
in the default ILO management pool.
     Workaround
To continue using the IP auto populate feature, navigate to Network Settings -> Network form and
modify the default IP pools for the management network.

Issues and Workarounds- SAP HANA
     Issue
If a server is slow when a user tries to save the Network Form (Common), a pop-up error message
appears stating “Error while saving or retrieving common network form.”
     Workaround
Click OK and click Save again to save the network details.

Issues and Workarounds- HPE Synergy
     Issue
Files that are more than 7MB take a long time to upload and in some cases do not get uploaded.

     Workaround
Contact pdl_smartcid_ind_all@hpe.com. Our support personnel will contact you and help you
        resolve the issue.

Issues and Workarounds- VCF on Synergy
     Issue
Interconnect Bay Number Wrong in Enclosure Group while creating Uplink Set.
     Workaround
As a Synergy best practice, for 3 frame or 2 frame configuration, ICM bays 2 and 5 in all frames must
be populated with FC modules to provide frame level HA.
