Welcome to the 2020 Season! Shelburne Golf & Country Club Dear Member, Welcome to the Shelburne Golf & Country Club! We are delighted you have chosen to call Shelburne Golf & Country Club your Home Club. Our Club is very active both socially and competitively with a variety of events and tournaments and a dynamic membership. We are here to help you make the most of your membership. The Club’s History: Shelburne Golf & Country Club is a family-run 18 hole golf course which has been in operation since 1961. Head Professional, Sam Young took the course over in 1975 and has built up the little-known 9 hole course to a well-respected and well-maintained 18 hole golf course with an outstanding practice facility; in 2012, our new Clubhouse was constructed. We have an excellent junior program and training facility which has won provincial and national recognition. In the last few years 9 new tee decks, adding 230 yards to the course, were brought into play adding to the challenge for the lower handicap, long-hitting player. Playing enhancements were completed on four holes in 2007, to speed up play and provide greater visual definition to the bunkers, water hazards and fairways, along with the addition of 400 trees. Also, the automatic irrigation system was expanded to improve the overall condition and playability of the course The Practice Range Shelburne Golf & CC has one of the finest practice facilities in Southern Ontario including a 10,000 square foot putting and chipping green with practice bunker and a one third of an acre grassed tee area with six strategically placed target greens. For your convenience, we offer a “Range Pass”: Receive 15 large buckets for the price of 10 large buckets. These passes can be purchased through the Pro Shop at any time. The Range Pass is fully transferrable and does not expire. Full Seven Day Members receive 1 small basket per day. Dining at Shelburne Golf & Country Club To satisfy those food cravings, the clubhouse offers a fresh, locally-sourced menu in a relaxed atmosphere inside or out on the patio or newly renovated deck. The clubhouse includes a licensed restaurant and banquet facilities for 175 in our beautiful banquet room overlooking the ninth and eighteenth greens. Please note that Shelburne Golf & CC is a fully-licensed facility. The liquor laws of the Province of Ontario do not permit personal alcohol in the clubhouse, parking lot or golf course. On warm and busy days a beverage cart circulates throughout the course for your convenience.

Sam Young, CPGA Shelburne Golf & Country Club www.shelburnegolf.com facebook.com/shelburnegolf Welcome! Head Golf Professional, Sam Young Shelburne Golf & Country Club is owned and operated by Sam Young, a member of the Professional Golfers Association of Canada since 1961. Sam served on the board of the Ontario PGA from 1973 – 1984 and on the board of the Canadian PGA from 1974 – 1990. He has served as president of both Associations. Sam had an extensive playing career in the sixties and seventies and has turned his playing and learning experience into the successful teaching method he uses today. He has introduced thousands of golfers to the game and has taught at every level, including a number of years with the Ontario Ladies’ and Men’s Junior Advanced Instructional Camps. After receiving the 1986 Ontario and the 1989 Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association and Score Magazine’s Club Professional of the Year Award, Sam used his years of experience to design and build a new nine holes and renovate the existing nine holes to fashion an exciting, well-conditioned and challenging eighteen-hole layout at Shelburne Golf & Country Club. In 1998, he designed and built a premier driving range and practice facility to complement the new 18-hole course. Sam continues to enhance the course by providing greater challenges for today’s longer hitters and improving the overall condition and playability of the course. In 2002 and again in 2003, Sam received the Ontario PGA Teacher of the Year Award for Junior Golfers and in 2002 the Canadian PGA awarded Sam the Canadian Junior Leader of the Year Award. In 2011, Sam was awarded the Ontario Golf Coaching Award in recognition of outstanding leadership in Junior golf development and in May 2011 Sam was inducted into the Ontario Hall of Fame as one of "Canada's most revered teachers." In 2012, Sam received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2017, Sam was inducted into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame and also received the Canada 150 Medal.
