However, his mid-life saw his career wane dramatically, leading to his eventual untimely death at the age of 54. Virginia (Elizabeth Debicki), meanwhile, is a celebrated writer, already revolutionising literature. When Vita receives an invitation to Bloomsbury, she becomes fixated on the idea of seducing the enigmatic and stubborn Woolf. Vita's singular persona will eventually be channelled into one of Virginia's greatest works, ‘Orlando.’ OFFICIAL SELECTION: Toronto International Film Festival 2018 22
!!!! “Great richness and warmth... a radiant tribute to a cinematic maestro.” The Hollywood Reporter DIRECTOR: Fariborz Kamkari 2016 | 90 min | Italy | Documentary Italian, French, Russian and English with English subtitles WATER AND SUGAR: CARLO DI PALMA, THE COLOURS OF LIFE Acqua e zucchero: Carlo Di Palma, i colori della vita As this finely crafted tribute shows, Italian cinematographer Carlo Di Palma’s life and career ran even deeper than the contributions he made to cinema. A child of WWII, Di Palma emerged from Rome's rubble as a 20-year-old in 1945, and found himself in the magical moment of Italian neorealist cinema. His father was a camera operator; his mother sold flowers on the Spanish Steps, which, in his own estimation, gave him a natural sense of colour. It was his innovations in colour with Michelangelo Antonioni's Red Desert and Blow-Up in the mid-1960s that set him apart as a genius of the medium. A glorious celebration of a humanist and an artist of uncommon talent. NOMINATED: Best Documentary on Cinema, Venice Film Festival 2016 OFFICIAL SELECTION: Toronto International Film Festival 2016 OFFICIAL SELECTION: Moscow International Film Festival 2018 23
