SEDOL Programs Educational Update
 This document is designed to provide information for the SEDOL community during the COVID Pandemic. It
 is important to highlight that this information is fluid and constantly being evaluated and updated. It will be
 reported out to the SEDOL Community every two weeks.

 In preparing for in school learning and for ongoing decision making, the following factors have been
 considered:
   1. Local metrics provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
   2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) availability and mitigation strategies in place
   3. Staffing Available
   4. Facilities Available

District Wide Summary 9/24/2021
Regional Metrics
The CDC indicators reviewed continue to document a high community transmission and that mitigation
measures decrease the risk of COVID-19 spread when consistently followed. SEDOL continues to partner with
the Lake County Health Department regarding safety procedures.
PPE and Certification Process Required
PPE Inventory Onsite - All required PPE for on site PPE Inventory Needed - None at this time
staff is available including N95 masks for custodial
staff. Daily staff and students should self check for
symptoms prior to entering into any SEDOL building
or program.
Staffing Available and Facilities Available
SEDOL has hired for all teaching positions or has filled them with highly qualified substitutes familiar with the
specific program assigned. SEDOL continues to actively recruit certified staff and paraprofessionals across the
district. All facilities follow social distancing recommendations and have work areas for staff. All facilities at this
time allow for social distancing to the greatest extent possible when students are in person. 83% of SEDOL
staff are fully vaccinated.

delivered. SEDOL has begun to offer vaccinated
individuals testing when determined to be a close
contact during days 3 to 5 as recommended by CDC.
SEDOL has partnered with O’Hare Laboratories to
offer non-vaccinated staff weekly testing on 7 different

sites with a PCR test. SEDOL offers weekly PCR
testing to all staff members at various sites.

 Current Building Status:
 All decisions below are dependent on the community metrics at that time. The next update will be on
 October 8, 2021. Based on the current metrics and SEDOL’s mitigation steps:

   ●   All students attending a SEDOL class in person must wear a mask or have a doctor’s note on file to
       outline mask exceptions to continue to attend in person. When medical documentation is in place and
       students are unable to wear a mask, SEDOL staff will layer up personal protective equipment.
   ●   All students and staff attending or working in a SEDOL class must complete COVID-19 symptom
       checking completed prior to entering the school building. It is mandatory for all students to check for
       symptoms of COVID-19 each day prior to attending in person learning. Temperatures will continue to be
       taken of all students upon arrival to a SEDOL classroom.
   ●   SEDOL staff and students are eligible, if they become symptomatic at school, to be voluntarily tested
       using the BinaxNOW antigen test. The BinaxNOW test is able to confirm a probable case, but not
       confirm a negative case. Testing is provided at no costs to SEDOL staff and students.
   ●   If a vaccinated individual is considered to be a close contact due to a SEDOL exposure, they are
       eligible to be tested using the BinaxNOW test at one of the SEDOL campus locations at the
       recommended timeline of 3 to 5 days. Testing is provided at no costs to SEDOL staff and students.
   ●   SEDOL has partnered with O’Hare Laboratories and has begun to offer free weekly testing to
       non-vaccinated staff as part of the Governor’s Emergency Order.
   ●   In addition, SEDOL has partnered with O’Hare Laboratories to offer additional weekly testing to all staff
       at various locations throughout the county beginning Monday, September 27th. Staff interested in this
       program should contact Sara Martinez at smartinez@sedol.us.
   ●   SEDOL parents/guardians interested in possibly having their children participate in voluntary weekly
       testing should contact Val Donnan at vdonnan@sedol.us.
   ●   SEDOL is not eligible to participate in the Lake County Health Department’s Test to Stay Program due
       to mitigation measures within our programs including students medically unable to wear masks.
   ●   14% of SEDOL staff and students have experienced some sort of quarantine or isolation due to
       COVID-19 since August 16, 2021.
   ●   SEDOL has partnered with IDPH and will host a vaccination clinic on September 25th and October 16th
       on the SEDOL, Gages Lake campus. This is a walk-in clinic from 9 to 1 tomorrow and then again on
       October 16th. Ages 12 and up are welcome to be vaccinated.
