2021 Green Bay Area School District Summer School Program Information Meals District- served breakfast and lunch will be available to all children attending summer school. Due to the USDA extended summer feeding waivers through September 2021, all meals will be available at no cost to families. Attendance Classes are held Monday-Friday, unless otherwise indicated. Summer School will be closed July 5-9, 2021. While summer learning is not required, students participating in summer learning classes are expected to attend daily and to abide by all regular school rules. We do recognize that families may have planned vacations and schools will work with you regarding these absences. Attendance in new credit courses at the high school is extremely important due to the condensed nature of the classes in which students are taking a semester course in four weeks. Students who miss more than 15% of course hours in a new credit course may be withdrawn from the course. Special Education Summer school programming provides both academic and enrichment learning opportunities for students. Therefore students who receive special education services during the regular school year may not need the same level of support during summer. For summer 2021, special education teachers and paras will be available to support students as needed. Summer school is not the same as Extended School Year (ESY). Only students who would regress more than their peers over the summer qualify for that. Please contact your school or the special education office if you have questions. However, this summer we will be providing more special education services to students with disabilities who attend summer school in an effort to close the gaps that occurred due to the pandemic. If you have any questions or concerns contact your school or the Special Education Department directly. Middle School Matters and Freshman Forward Information related to transition courses will be released in the upcoming months to families. Questions Contact your school with summer school questions or email the district office at summerschool@gbaps.org. Summer School 2021 gbaps.org 5
