PLEASE NOTE: THIS SHOW IS NOT BENCHED AREAS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR CAGES AND SOFT CRATES Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has asked that we draw attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning the use of soft crates as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. They have asked that we point out that dogs should not be left unattended in soft crates. There have been instances where dogs have escaped from soft crates which have not been securely fastened, or have been left at the ringside. We therefore ask that if you use soft crates, you do not leave the dogs unattended either in the hall, or in an open car park. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm.If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused. IDENTIFICATION OF DOGS It is a Kennel Club requirement that exhibitors display the exhibitor/bench number on their cage or container at all times. This is particularly important when cages etc. are not on benches and at unbenched shows. Each exhibitor is responsible for proving their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card as provided by the show society must not be used for this purpose. It is important to be able to contact exhibitors and identify dogs where a dog may be in distress or where the crate might be blocking a passageway. At benched shows soft crates may only be put on benches if they are the appropriate size for both the dog and the bench, and the crate can be securely attached to the bench. These points were introduced with the safety of all in mind, but most importantly that of the dog, and to minimise the potential incidents and injuries. 14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. The Show committee reserves to itself the right to refuse, on reasonable grounds, any entries. If in the opinion of the Show Secretary, Show Manager or Judge any dog is considered not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, savage disposition, or any other cause, the dog may be excluded or removed from the Show on the instruction of the Show Management. Once excluded or removed from the Show, the dog MUST NOT be brought into the Show at any time under any circumstances, and the case must be reported in full to the Kennel Club. The Committee will not be in any way responsible for any claim for injury or compensation occasioned by or arising out of the holding of the Show, or by reason of the act or default of any person in attendance or present thereat. It is on this understanding only that entries are received. 24. Except when securely caged, all dogs MUST be on a lead for the duration of the Show, including in the exercise area provided. 25. Conversation is not allowed in the judging ring. Exhibitors showing dogs will not be permitted to hold conversation with the Judge during the competition. NO PERSONS, other than the exhibitors (officials excepted) WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RING DURING THE JUDGING OF CLASSES OR SPECIALS. 26. Should any of the judges be prevented from fulfilling their engagements, the Show Committee reserves to itself the right of appointing other judges to fulfil their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition, but no entry fee can be refunded. 27. The Judges will be instructed and empowered to withhold the prize or prizes in any class if, in their opinion, the dog or dogs exhibited do not possess sufficient merit. Judges are not empowered to give prizes beyond those offered in the Schedule of Prizes. 28. All Judges are requested to take classes within each breed IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY ARE ENTERED IN THE JUDGING BOOK. 29. OBJECTIONS and PROTESTS. All objections must be made in accordance with the Kennel Club Regulations. Should any question arise not provided for by these Regulations or by the Kennel Club Rules, the decision of the Committee shall be final. The Committee of the Kennel Club is the Final Court of Appeal. 30. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove immediately any fouling caused by their dog(s), and/or any grooming waste, at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 33. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 34. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.
