Adequate parking facilities are available to the school. Mississippi Barber Academy has approximately 7,500 sq. ft. of floor space. The area is divided into the following: 5 offices, 2 classrooms, 1 Basic Department, 2 Jr/Sr Theory Rooms; Barbering Clinic which has 20 styling stations with mirrors, 6 shampoo bowls & chairs, 6 dryers, reception area & dispensary, student lounge, 5 men's and ladies restrooms, and other miscellaneous equipment. 4

Barber Crossover (600 Hours) • Applicant must have current Mississippi Cosmetology license. • Applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. • Applicant must have Photo ID. • Applicant must read, write, and speak English. Barber Instructor (1000 Hours) • Applicant must have current Mississippi Barber license. • Applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. • Applicant must have Photo ID. • Applicant must read, write, and speak English. Transfer Student Mississippi Barber Academy will accept no more than 600 transferred hours for the basic Barber courses. A student transferring to Mississippi Barber Academy will be required to pay a $100.00 entry fee or 15% of the total tuition, which ever is less. Tuition amount is calculated by dividing the current tuition cost by the total course length, then multiplied by the number of hours required. 5
Re-Admission Policy All students wanting to apply for re-admittance to Mississippi Barber Academy must be in good standing with the school. All outstanding account balances must be satisfied before any consideration of re-admittance will be made. A $100.00 re-entry fee will be charged. Students who have been terminated/expelled may apply to be re-admitted to the college after being dismissed for a period of no less than 90 days. Each terminated re-admittance will be handled on a case by case basis. Reason for which the student was terminated will be strongly taken into consideration as well as the student’s ability to show the school why they should be considered for re-admittance. This re-admittance shall be conducted on campus with either the school’s President, Executive Director, and/or Manager. This does not apply to Voluntary withdrawals. Admission Practices Mississippi Barber Academy does not solicit nor recruit students already attending or that have been admitted to another school offering a similar program of study. Grading System Students receive a numeric grade in both their academic and practical work, An overall average of 85 is required. The following represents the equivalencies of grades assigned: 95-100: Excellent 90 to 94: Very Good 85 to 89: Satisfactory 84 and below: Unsatisfactory Access to Student Files & Information Student or parent/guardian (if student is a dependent minor) may have access to their own files by contacting Mississippi Barber Academy administration for an appointment with the Supervisor or Registrar. These records may not be removed from the Mississippi Barber Academy. No information regarding a student will be released without the prior written consent, each time the student, or parent/guardian if the student is a dependent minor, unless required to do so by State, Accrediting or Governmental agency. 6
Barbering Barbering is becoming one of the "hottest" professions! Our Barbering Program is designed to prepare our students for a rewarding, creative career with many options. Mississippi Barber Academy uses the latest edition of Milady's Standard Professional Barbering text and Student Workbook published by Thomson Delmar Learning. Students will be prepared to pass the state examination given by The Mississippi State Board of Barbering Examiners. The entry level skills and knowledge obtained by Mississippi Barber Academy will enable you to become successful in the modern as well as the traditional barber shop. Curriculum Overview Barbering 12/18 months of continuous training is required which will consist of a maximum of 30/20 hrs/week. There shall be a minimum total accumulation of 1500 (clock) hours. The State of Mississippi law requirement for academic and practical classes in barbering are divided approximately as follows: 60% clinic work and 40% classroom (both academic and practical application). Barber Crossover Our Barber Crossover Program is designed to allow individuals who possess a valid Mississippi Cosmetology license the opportunity to also become a licensed Barber. Students will be prepared to pass the state licensing exam which consists of a written and practical examination. Upon receiving your Barber license, you will then become eligible to work in both a state- licensed Cosmetology Salon and/or a state-licensed Barber Shop. 20 weeks for full time students and 30 weeks for part time students. There shall be a minimum total accumulation of 600 (clock) hours. Barber Instructor Program At Mississippi Barber Academy, students in our Barber Instructor Programs are taught the latest entry-level methods of teaching and preparation of practical and academic classes. Students must also learn record keeping and school adminis- tration. Upon licensing, an instructor may work as an instructor in any Mississippi state licensed school and/or instruct in seminars, workshops, conventions as well as continuing educational classes.
