SAINTS FOUNDATION COMMUNITY HUBS What are the Community Hubs? Saints Foundation have planned to have two ‘Community Hubs’ within Southampton which will serve as a safe and controlled venue for the activities. The two hubs will be based at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill and Bitterne Park Secondary School. Both schools were selected due to the facilities and a location on both the East & West of the city. There is two types of provision we are looking to use the venue for: - Helping us to continue our existing project delivery to support the city. - To run bespoke programmes to support the current city need. All sessions will have a strict sign up process prior to the session to ensure we have correct numbers and information relevant for our risk assessments and ensuring safety of all across the site. The following sessions are relevant for schools and also provide opportunities to refer your pupils too… 2
NCS What is it… Saints Foundation and NCS have teamed up to deliver the ‘Keep Doing Good’ programme this summer for young people in Southampton. ‘Keep Doing Good’ is an amazing opportunity for Year 11 pupils to support Southampton and help tackle community’s issues that already existed or have emerged due to COVID-19. Through ‘Keep Doing Good’, pupils will be given the platform to volunteer a minimum of 16 hours of their time with Saints Foundation and collectively make a positive impact in Southampton. The programme will split over the course of 2 weeks, and will provide young people with the chance to develop new skills, experiences of planning and delivering a social action project, as well as tackling issues that your pupils are passionate about. Excluding the following schools due to NCS contracting – Redbridge, St.Annes, Polygon but offer will be in place from Personal Best Education. SAINTS KICKS What is it… Saints Kicks is a programme which looks to engage young people aged 8-18 in positive activity with the aim of reducing anti-social behaviour in the areas it operates. These Kicks sessions will not look like the traditional sessions do on an evening. This summer we will be having 2 Junior and 2 Senior sessions each week to enable us to manage numbers. The activity will include a range of fun and engaging sports practices that include social distancing with a ratio of 5 particpants to 1 staff member. These sessions would not be open access and would have to include sign ups. PL PRIMARY STARS HEALTH – HOLIDAY HUNGER PROGRAMME What is it… This project would allow up to 20 primary pupils Y1-6 per day to access a football session with Saints Foundation coaches as well as have a healthy meal whilst onsite. The session would include a 1-hour social distancing sporting session as well as a 1-hour session where they will have lunch and educational activity based around the Premier League Primary Stars Values (Be ambitious, Be Inspiring, Be Connected & Be Fair). We have been working with both OAL & Bitterne Park to identify primary schools who have the greatest need in the geographical area to use this opportunity. FAMILY COMMUNITY HUB What is it… This is a new project that has been developed to manage a local need within the city. This project will allow for two nights per week for the venue to accommodate 20 families (10 families per wave) who have been affected the most by COVID-19. The session will include an inclusive sporting session for all of those in the family who are under 16 whilst parents/guardians can access support services for families with a number of agencies present. For the second part of the session each family will have the opportunity to join us for a hot meal free of charge and a chance to interact with our team in a family challenge. The aim of the programme is to reach out to these families and bring the support and services to them but to help ease any potentially anxieties of returning to schools for September. We would look to work with all schools across the city to identify the 80 families who may like to engage across the city. RISK OF NEET PROGRAMME What is it… This targeted programme which will run over a week basis will see those Y11’s that have no current destination for September 2020 referred into the programme. The programme uses a Saints branded workbook which include some of the iCan resources to help pupils map out their journey following leaving school. We have partnered with the SCC’s Step team to offer advice and guidance during and beyond this programme to help guide the young people to their next steps. We are looking at working with each school to identify those that may benefit.
