Lewiston 4th of July Rodeo Queen Contest Check in and warm up at 9:00, all contestants must be checked in by 9:30AM We will clear the arena and contest begins @ 9:30 AM youngest age groups first Lewiston Rodeo Arena June 8th 2019 Entries due May 27th (Entries need to be received by May 27th, not postmarked May 27th) Rules and Requirements 1. Mini-miss 5 and under, Princess ages 6-8, Jr. Queen 9-13, Queen category 14-23 as of Jan 1st. 2. Required dress for the contest includes jeans, a long sleeve shirt, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. 3. If chosen to be in the Lewiston July 4th Rodeo Royalty, the horse you tried out on must be used throughout the reigning year. 4. No stallions allowed. 5. Mini-miss and Princess Royalty and contestants are invited to carry an American Flag during The National Anthem at the rodeo on July 3rd and 4th. You are not to make any other appearances as Lewiston Royalty. No royalties with girls under 8 will be announced during the grand entry at the Lewiston Rodeo. 6. Jr. Queen and Queen Royalty will be required to ride in the Lewiston July 4th parade and the grand entry for both rodeos, July 3rd and July 4th. You also agree to be available for any other events as requested during the Lewiston celebration. 7. Jr. Queen and Queen Royalty are required to make appearances at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo and Preston Night Rodeo & Parade. Riding in other parades and rodeos is encouraged but not required. All appearances should be coordinated as a group, and you should all ride together. 8. If chosen to be in the Lewiston July 4th Rodeo Royalty, you agree not to compete for any other titles that will conflict with the required appearances. 9. Late entries will only be accepted if there are less than 3 contestants in the age group. Late entry fee will be $25.

If competing for Mini-Miss and Princess: I will be available for the Lewiston celebration, and not ride at any other events. 2. If competing in the Jr. Queen and Queen categories: I will be available for the Lewiston, Preston, and Cache County celebrations. 3. I will represent in full western attire (long sleeved shirt, jeans or below the knee length skirt, hat, boots & belt) at all events unless otherwise discussed. 4. I will ride the same horse during my reign as I competed on. 5. I have never been married, or pregnant. 6. I am of good moral character and have not engaged in any act which, if made public, would be reasonably likely to cause harm or damage to my reputation or to the good will and reputation of the Lewiston 4th of July Rodeo and Celebration. 7. I will conduct myself in a professional manner and adhere to all rules given to me by queen contest chair and Lewiston City. 8. I understand that the crown and parade banners will be returned at the end of the year, and if they are lost or ruined I will be responsible for the replacement cost. Entries must be received by May 27th, not in the mail. Any contestant who enters early and wins another contest, and notifies us before May 27th will have her entry fee returned.
Mini-Miss Age 5 and under 4, 5 Cone Parents must lead contestant through all of the maneuvers. Safety is our first priority; we require all contestants be lead Judges through the pattern. 6 Enter Arena Mounted 1. Walk to 1st cone 3 2. Stop and wait for the Judges Cone 3. Walk, Trot, or Lope to 2nd cone 7 4. Stop 1,2 5. Back 5 steps and settle horse 6. Turn and walk to Judges 7. Wave to grandstands after leaving judges upon exit Gate The appearance of person leading contestant will not be judged, however they should be in appropriate attire which includes long sleeve shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots. A cowboy hat is optional. Princess 6-8 8 Enter Arena Mounted 3 1. Walk to center of arena 2. Complete a cirle to the right at the gait of your choice 4, 5 6 3. Change directions at center of arena complete circle to the left 4. Stop at center of arena 7 5. Back 6. Walk horse to judges (no dismount) 7. Answer judges questions 8. Ride forward and complete presentation ride, stopping 2 at the gate and exit. 1 Contestants are encouraged to complete the pattern at the gait they have the most control at. If necessary parents are allowed Gate to lead contestants our priority is to have a safe experience for all.
Jr. Queen Age 9-13 3 Enter Arena Mounted 1. Trot to center of arena 2. Starting on the right lead complete a circle to the right 4 7 3. Change leads at center of arena complete circle to the left 4. Stop at center of arena, back 5. One spin in either direction 6. One spin in opposite direction 5,6 8 7. Complete a presentation ride. 8. Dismount, lead horse to judges for questions. 9. Leading horse, exit to gate at a trot. DO NOT PAUSE AT GATE Gate Queen Age 14-23 9 12 1. Mount horse 4 2. Trot to center of arena 6,7 3. Starting on the right lead complete large fast circle, followed by a slow small circle. 5 4. Change leads and complete a large fast circle on the left lead 13 11 followed by a slow small circle. 5. Stop in center of arena. 6. Two spins in either direction 7. Two spins in opposite direction 8 8. Trot to end of arena 3 9. Complete run down and rollback to right 10. Complete run down and rollback to left 11. Lope to center of arena. Stop and back 2 1 12. Ride forward toward grandstand complete presentation ride. 10 13. Stop, Dismount, lead horse to judges Gate 14. When dismissed exit arena at a trot (leading horse) DO NOT PAUSE AT GATE
