Welcome TO BRISBANE. On behalf of Brisbane, I look forward to welcoming international riders and teams to our city for the 2019-2020 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup. Brisbane is a great place to live, work, and relax – it’s a safe, vibrant, green and prosperous city, valued for its friendly and optimistic character and enjoyable subtropical lifestyle. Brisbane is a fantastic city to explore on two wheels, with an extensive network of bikeways and shared pathways and some of the country’s best cycling facilities, perfect for training in the lead up to the world cup. You can also explore routes that travel along beautiful beachside foreshores, parklands, nature reserves and, of course, the Brisbane River. Welcome to Brisbane for the 2019-2020 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup. ěȃljljʤljȶɽȈɰɽȃljˎɨɰɽěȈɰɰɁɽĩ:ěɨƃƺȟ:ʰƺȢȈȶǼŚɁɨȢǁ:ʍɥɨɁʍȶǁȃɁɰɽljǁ by Australia since 2012, held here in beautiful Queensland. Over three exciting days of competition, the event will show off the state’s world-class facilities at the Anna Meares Velodrome, built to host the track events during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Events are vital to the Queensland economy; they promote our beautiful destinations and support local jobs. This event is part of Tourism and Events Queensland’s It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar, worth $800 million to the state’s economy. Congratulations to Cycling Australia and all involved in delivering what will be a successful event. For those visiting Brisbane for the event, I encourage you to explore the diverse tourism experiences on offer in both the city and South-East Queensland region. TRACK CYCLING FACILITIES . 1 SLEEMAN SPORTS CENTRE A: Old Cleveland Road and Tilley Road, Chandler W: sleemansports.com.au Sleeman Sports Complex is one of Queensland’s premier multi- purpose sporting venues, with highly advanced facilities and a reputation for producing some of Australia’s most talented and successful athletes. The ɁʍɽǁɁɁɨƺȈɨƺʍȈɽȈɰȴɁɰɽȢʰːƃɽƃȶǁ features slight inclines with a total ascent of 2.77m and maximum elevation of 10.01m. 3 ALBERT BISHOP PARK CRITERIUM CIRCUIT A: 111 Hedley Avenue, Nundah Located just 10km north of Brisbane’s CBD, the Albert Bishop Park Criterium Circuit features two tracks of 1200m and 300m. The cycle track is open for public use and can be booked for exclusive use. 7
BMX CYCLING FACILITIES . 4 DARRA BMX FACILITY A: 52 Monier Road, Darra The recently-opened Darra BMX Facility is the go-to for local pros and has been developed to international competition standards. The site features a fully asphalt BMX track with a diverse range of runs and lighting until 9pm each evening. 5 BRACKEN RIDGE BMX FACILITY A: Corner of Telegraph Road and Lemke Road, Fitzgibbon The largest of its kind in Australia, this new $2.3 million facility in Brisbane’s north contains 640 meters of track and caters to professional riders with freestyle jumps and obstacles from 40cm to 160cm in height. 6 LOGAN CITY BMX ACADEMY A: Underwood Park, Underwood Road, Priestdale Purpose-built for bicycle skill development, this fast- ːɁʥȈȶǼɽɨƃƺȟȈɰƃǹƃʤɁʍɨȈɽljɽɁ thousands of local BMX riders for its safe, exhilarating downhill experience. RIDING SIGNS AND RULES . Shared pathway Bike riders keep left and people walking are not the block the path. As an early warning to people walking or running, you should sound your bell early and slow down when overtaking. People on skateboards, roller blades, e-scooters and e-bikes are permitted to use shared pathways. Bike-only pathway Only people riding bikes and other personal mobility devices such as e-scooters are permitted to use these paths. People are not allowed to walk on these paths. Road ahead The bikeway crosses a road ahead and bike riders need to give way to people who are driving. Pedestrian crossing ahead This warning sign indicated that people are likely to be crossing the bike path ahead. On-road bike lanes Bike lanes are dedicated on-road cycling facilities. It is not compulsory to ride in the on-road bike lanes. No bicycles Riding is not permitted beyond this point. You must dismount and walk with your bike. Bikeway emergency The reference code on these signs will help you communicate your location to emergency services, so they can reach you via the most direct route. 9

RIDE MOUNT COOT-THA . A popular route for hill training, The Mt Coot-tha loop promises to ramp up your incline power with a 9.5km track and challenging 247m climb. This heart-pumping ride begins as the base of Mt Coot-tha and ends with one of Brisbane’s most popular scenic lookouts. Ride in a clockwise direction for a moderate in-the-saddle climb, or in an anti-clockwise direction for a challenging, leg burning ascent. RIDE THE BRISBANE RIVER LOOP . Brisbane’s best-known and most-loved route by locals, the loop snakes alongside our city’s famous river. The 36.3km route has a 224m climb and includes bikeways and on-road riding. It can be done in either direction with many people beginning and ending at South Bank parklands. Expect water views and plenty of spots for a coffee pit-stop. RIDE THE GAP TO MT GLORIOUS . Take your training to new heights with a ride from The Gap to Mt Glorious (via Mt Nebo) through the heavily forested D’Aguilar Range. The 32km long, 1167m climb ride includes beautiful views, several long and challenging climbs and sweeping descents. RIDE BY THE BAY . For a scenic ride alongside Brisbane beautiful bay, follow the Moreton Bay Cycle path through Wynnum Manly to Redland Bay.
