He’s married to Deb, and has two adult children, and he currently does the St Mark’s School bus run, plus coach and charter work. As a child, he wanted to be a jackaroo, but he joined the Police Academy at age 16. After graduating, he did general patrols in Adelaide and other areas of the State, then dealt with crime scene/forensics over a large part of SA, involving fatal accidents and breath analysis, with little assistance and on 24 hour call, being quite a stressful time. He was later stationed in the large Adelaide/Darlington area, which involved long work hours. CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY CENTRE Tuesday 27th April was our first day of Kindy for term 2 and the children settled back beautifully after the holidays and long NEWS & weekend. The Rural Youth Ambassador program is a specific program focused on Year 11 students, and forms part of the Rural Inspire initiative, aimed at increasing the aspirations of young people in rural and remote communities. As Rural Youth Ambassadors, Hayden and Jessica will join other young people from across rural South Australia in a range of forums and discussions exploring key areas of interest to rural life and education. Ambassadors will have the chance to meet with Government Ministers, senior education BEFORE AFTER leaders and other key stakeholders throughout the year. Jessica and Hayden are currently in Adelaide at the first of the forums, and we look forward to hearing more about the program as the year progresses. This recognition of Amey, Hayden and Jessica is well deserved, and demonstrates what can be achieved when young people combine high aspirations with a genuine commitment to succeed. The Resilience Project is a dedicated lesson that delivers emotionally SUNDAY JUNE 20TH FROM 11AM engaging programs and provides evidence- based, practical strategies to build resilience. Bundaleer BBQ & Bonfire This lesson is being delivered by Home Group teachers once a week across NATURE PLAY | PICNIC GAMES | LIVE MUSIC R-12 on a Tuesday to all students. The Program consists of online SUNDAY JULY 18TH 9AM - 11AM presentations and lessons for students, professional development for staff, and a video series for our parent and carer Maple & Pine Official Opening community. St James School NEWS by Evan Wrobel - Principal On Tuesday 27th April, we welcomed all students back to school. They have quickly settled back Trade Ads continued... into their routines and are busy learning. At the end of last term, students in our Reception, Year 1/2, Year 4/5 and Year PLASTERER 6/7 classes performed their Holy Week Easter Plays in the Church Hall in front of many parents and for the junior primary students. After Easter the Year 2/3 students presented their Easter Resurrection Play. All of the students involved depicted the Easter story so well and acted with confidence. They should be proud of their efforts. ANZAC Day On ANZAC Day the School Captains represented St James School at the War Memorial on Irvine Street, Jamestown. They paid their respects by laying a beautiful wreath at the gates of the Jamestown Memorial. I would like to thank Harper Young, Halle Clark and Patrick Sutter for representing the school for this important event during the school holidays. Lest We Forget.
