Registration REGISTRATION is on a first come first We reserve the right to cancel serve basis. Some programs are classes/programs due to limited to a certain number of insufficient registrations or other participants and will close when causes beyond our control. A capacity is reached. Please ask to be minimum of 12 participants are put on a "waiting list" if available. required for programs and classes. AGE REQUIREMENTS; Age requirements are established to safely facilitate age appropriate classes. Children must be appropriate age by the first day of class in order to register. NO EXCEPTIONS! Classes/programs will not be held on city recognized holidays. Please note: no Make up classes will be offered. FEES, DATES & TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE REFUNDS: A 100% refund will be given for activities canceled by the Recreation Department. No refunds will be given after the program start date. No cash refunds will be issued. Refunds if issued, may take up to 4-8 weeks to process. Class transfers and/or credits may be approved under certain limited conditions. Please consider your schedule carefully before registering 3
Youth Programs Karate Kofuja-do Days: Mondays & Thursdays 5:00-5:50 p.m. Ages: 6 yrs. and over Place: Sr. Hall, 707 Dool Ave. Fee: $25.00 a month Instructor: Bryan Avila/Carlos Valencia Starts: Sept. 14, 2021 No Class on Sept. 23, 2021. Face masks are required. Sketching With Chew Days: Mondays 4:00-5:00 p.m. Ages: 7-16 yrs. Fee: Free Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Jamie Ann Chew Starts: Sept. 20, 2021. No Class on Oct. 11, 2021 Follow Jamie on this step-by-step sketching program. Participants will need to bring their own sketch pad/paper, crayons/color pencils, and a sharpener. Class capacity will be limited. Face masks are required. Basketball Clinics 4- 8 yrs. Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30 p.m. -5:30 p.m. Session I: Sept. 14, 2021 - Oct. 21, 2021 Session II: Oct. 26, 2021 - Dec. 9, 2021 Fee: $25.00 per session 9-15 yrs. Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Session I: Sept. 15, 2021 - Oct. 20, 2021 Session II: Oct. 25, 2021 - Dec. 8, 2021 Fee: $25.00 per session No Class on Oct. 11, 2021 Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Jamie Ann Chew Materials needed: Basketball and water bottle. Generation Pound Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-4:15 p.m. Ages: 6-12 yrs. Session I: Sept. 14, 2021 - Oct. 21, 2021 Session II: Oct. 26, 2021 - Dec. 9, 2021 Fee: $25.00 per session Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Jamie Ann Chew Generation Pound is a youth-oriented program that fuses movement and music to improve physical fitness, focus communication, teamwork, coordination, athletic skill, and more! Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted exercise drumsticks, kids will learn alternative ways to explore movement, embrace their creativity & ROCK OUT! Face masks are required. Materials needed: Yoga mat and water bottle. No class on Nov. 23, 25, 2021 Kids Night Out Days: Saturdays 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Ages: 5-12 yrs. Dates: Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 13 & Dec. 11, 2021 Fee: $5.00 per day. Community Center: Jamie Ann Chew & Staff Join us for some board games, crafts, indoor activities, movies and a snack. Space will be limited to a certain amount of participants. Face masks are required. 'Style Your Sole' Workshop Calling all young artists! Join Jamie Chew and the Starts with Arts Foundation in designing and painting custom shoes for a great cause. Days: Tuesdays 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Ages: 7th -12th Grade Dates: Sept. 21, 28, Oct. 5, 12, 2021 Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Jamie Ann Chew will have special Guest David Varela, Director of Starts with Arts Foundation on Sept. 21, 2021 Every student will get an opportunity to paint a pair of shoes in a style of a famous historical artist. Shoes painted in this workshop will be donated to Border Kindness, a center in Mexicali that helps provide free resources to families living without shelter, food and basic means of living. Shoes and all painting materials provided. Space will be limited to a certain amount of participants. Face masks are required. 5
Youth/Adult Programs Zumba for All DAYS: Monday - Thursdays 6:00 P.M. Ages: 7 yrs and over (minors must be accompanied by a participating adult) Fee: $25.00 per month Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Erika Robledo Starts: Sept. 14, 2021 Help us keep you fit and active as you work out and dance with Erika. Note: Class will be in Spanish. Limited spaces. Face masks required custom kickz workshop 10-15 yrs. Wednesdays Sept, 15 - Oct. 20, 2021 Time: 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fee: $15.00 16 yrs. and over. Thursdays Sept. 16, - Oct. 21, 2021 Time 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Fee: $15.00 Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Jamie Ann Chew Do you love sneakers, painting, and design? Join Jamie as she helps you transform white shoes into wearable art. Participants must bring their own canvas shoes. Paint supply will be provided. Class capacity will be limited. Face masks are required. Wearable art workshop 10-15 yrs. Wednesdays Oct, 27 - Dec. 8, 2021 Time: 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fee: $15.00 16 yrs. and over. Thursday Oct. 28, - Dec. 9, 2021 Time 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Fee: $15.00 Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Jamie Ann Chew Join Jamie in this creative workshop as she helps you transform t-shirts, caps, face masks, and any other clothing item into wearable art. Face masks are required. Crochet Club Days: Thursdays 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Ages: Adults & Seniors Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Fee: Free Starts: Sept. 16, 2021. If you enjoy crocheting or you would like to learn, then this is the club for you. Share with others your patterns and get ideas for new projects. Face masks are required. Senior Programs Danzon Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Ages: 55 yrs. and over Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Fee: Free Instructor: Volunteers Starts: Sept. 21, 2021 Instructed by Calexico's Grupo de Danzon, you will learn the basic step of danzon. BINGO Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Ages: 55 yrs. and over Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Staff Fee: Free Starts: Sept. 14, 2021 Face masks are required. SENIOR ARTS & CRAFTS Days: Mondays & Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Ages: 55 yrs. and over Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Rosa Romero Fee: $5.00 per month Starts: Sept. 15, 2021 Face masks are required SEWING Days: Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Ages: 55 yrs. and over Senior Craft Room, 707 Dool Ave. Instructor: Maria Curiel Fee: $5.00 per month Starts: Sept. 15, 2021 Face masks required Learn how to sew with easy to follow tutorials. FACILITY RENTAL INFORMATION Are you planning an event or party celebration? Halls are reserved on a first come first serve basis with a $100 non-refundable reservation fee. COMMUNITY CENTER SR. HALL CAPACITY 320 PEOPLE CAPACITY 160 $600.00 $450.00 City Parks and fields are available for reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, when not otherwise reserved. Park reservations must be submitted at least seven days in advance. Consumption of alcohol is not authorized . Fees: $50.00 for the use of 4 hours. Use of electricity, if available, is an additional $50.00 for those 4 hours. Key Deposit: $75.00 if the park requires a key. Cleaning Deposit: $25.00. Reservations will not be taken over the phone.
