RECIPES FOR POINSETTIAS Order at: ballseed.com/webtrack Talk to us. Ball Seed® 800 879-BALL • Ball ColorLink®: 800 686-7380
Ball Seed® is proud to introduce , a new generation of spray dyes that gives the traditional poinsettia a whole new look, form and feel for your customers. typically work best on white, cream, apricot, light pink and marble poinsettias. This treatment greatly expands the traditional color range of poinsettias. It creates new markets, especially during the early poinsettia season, attracting clientele that might not consider selling a standard, natural poinsettia. , along with our glitter, attract attention, create excitement, and most importantly, provide an opportunity to raise the price point of poinsettias to a much-needed higher level. Poinsettias do not need to be a commodity anymore – they are an opportunity to generate greater profits! The dyes come in 8 unique colors that, when sprayed on poinsettias, create an exiting effect that expands the color range of traditional poinsettias. We think that by using , the opportunity exists to broaden the poinsettia window, thus creating a whole new market potential for poinsettias. In addition to using poinsettias for the Christmas holiday, it opens the door to other decorating possibilities, such as: ● Halloween ● New Year’s ● Promotions – in store gift with purchase, ● Thanksgiving ● Anniversaries sports teams (high school, college and ● Hannukah ● Birthdays professional) and fundraiser opportunities (High School Clubs, Boy/Girl Scouts, 4-H, Charities, etc.) Red and pink poinsettias can also be dyed by using the more intense, darker colors. Depending on the intensity, number and type of color applications, a variety of designs can be created to complement any décor. We have included some possible combinations using in this booklet. However, these are only some suggestions. Feel free to have fun and use your own creativity! Please keep in mind that you can use just one color per poinsettia variety, put a second coat on of that particular color or enhance/color-coordinate the poinsettia by using additional (mixing colors as per the standard color wheel). Adding ethanol as spray droplets or using ethanol for a striping pattern will give you additional variations and effects. THE COLOR WHEEL: The traditional color wheel has three primary colors: red, yellow and blue. In technical terms, it organizes colors by the length of their light wave (red is the longest, violet is the shortest). But for those of us who aren’t astrophysicists, it’s easier to think of the color wheel as a slice of the rainbow stretched into a circle or a cool device that allows people to see the relationship between colors. PRIMARY COLORS SECONDARY COLORS INTERMEDIATE COLORS RED, YELLOW, BLUE ORANGE, GREEN, VIOLET RED-ORANGE, YELLOW-ORANGE, The three colors from which all Obtained when two primary colors are YELLOW-GREEN, BLUE-GREEN, other colors are made and which mixed together. BLUE-VIOLET, RED-VIOLET cannot be made from any other These colors occur when an colors. adjoining primary and secondary color are mixed. 1
IMPORTANT NOTE: These spray dyes are based on ethanol, which makes them easy to apply. It is essential that prior to application, you prepare a well-ventilated or covered area. Please consider clothing and surrounding area for over-spray, as the dye will stain. Do not water from overhead – water at soil level or from the bottom of the pot. The dye may run and stain clothing, carpet, etc. Test on individual plants before mass application, as results may vary. PRODUCT FORMS AVAILABLE: 1) Ready to Use (RTU) – Remove cap, then attach the spray nozzle. (IMPORTANT – secure tightly and adjust nozzle.) 1 liter will color approx. 60-80 6-in./15-cm pots, depending on application and bract size. 2) Concentrate – Products need to be diluted with ethanol to be used in mass applications with various types of sprayers.
