Parks & Recreation Events Cardboard Boat Races Wags & Waves! When: Saturday, July 9, 2022 Ages: 7-14 When: Sunday, September 4, 2022 Where: Roosevelt 50-Meter Outdoor Pool Where: Jimmy Hilton Pool (Sioux Park) Time: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Time: TBD Registration: $15.00 We hope to see everyone enjoying a once in a Cardboard boats can really float! The E DAT July is National Parks & Recreation Month Senior Activities Week July 11-15, 2022 Senior Activities Week was established to promote health, fitness and physical activity for men and women 50 years of age and older. This annual competition conducts a variety of events including Cornhole, Swimming, Pickleball, Basketball, and much more. This year’s events will conclude with Swimming to be held Friday, July 15th. Throughout the week participants can pick which events they would like to partake in and compete at their leisure. Activities will be played over the course of a week at various locations throughout Rapid City. Be on the lookout for the Senior Activities Week entry form and full list of activities. Registration Deadline; July 8, 2022. Entry fee is $10 per person (includes participation in any/all events and picnic). 3

Find a partner and sign up for the Recreation Division’s Merchant Golf League. This is an eight week league and will include three weeks of tournament play. Teams consist of two players, with a third as a substitute. Various formats and weekly pin prizes will be used to keep things interesting and competitive. Golf Courses Meadowbrook Players Club The Meadowbrook Players Club is open to all male and female golfers ages 18 and older. Meadowbrook Golf Course will hold 9 tournaments for its members and 4 Open events. Annual dues of $35.00 include a USGA handicap and grants each member eligibility to enter the Player’s Club exclusive events. If you have your GHIN handicap through a different home course you may be a Player’s Club member for a $12.00 fee. Our tournaments typically have a $25.00 entry fee with 100% of all tournament fees paid out in the form of golf shop merchandise credit. Please stop in at the golf shop to join this fun group of golf enthusiasts! Monday Men’s League 9-hole net match play using current USGA handicaps. USGA Handicap required. May 9th starts the league off with a kickoff scramble. League matches begin May 16th. 6:00 p.m. shotgun start each Monday evening excluding May 30th (Memorial Day). Fee is $100.00 per player + applicable green fee with 100% payout. Entry fee includes daily games as well as weekly matches. League will be limited to the first 48 paid players. Registration will be taken at the golf shop. Location: Meadowbrook Golf Course Thursday Ladies League 18-hole league using current USGA Handicaps. USGE Handicap required. This Women’s only league will be tee timed starting at 8:00 a.m. First day will be meeting at 8:00 am with tee times starting at 8:30 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Will run May through September. Contact Meadowbrook Golf Course staff for questions. Cost: $20.00 for league management and pairing setup. Side games played each week for additional fee applicable green fees. Golf Courses Junior Golf Camp Meadowbrook’s Junior Golf Camp is designed to introduce golfing fundamentals, at any age, while continuing in player development year after year. Our camp activities are based upon the U.S. Kids Golf Curriculum with two certified coaches on staff. Our primary objective is to teach skill development while having a fun experience at the golf course. No Experience or equipment needed. We are offering three separate one-week sessions. Classes will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon for all age levels and abilities. Target ages for this program is from 6 to 18 years. Students will be divided up by age and then by skill level. Our goal is to accommodate as many students as we can with a coach to student ratio of 1:4 (1 coach to every 4 students). Summer Match Play This is a double elimination Match Play Bracket. Each segment of the bracket will have one week to play the round starting Monday, May 16 and runs through the summer. Figure Skating Drop Ins Learn to Skate USA Practice Learn to Skate USA Practice is a time set aside for students in our Learn to Skate Classes to practice their developing skills in a stress free environment. Parents, siblings, or friends of the student may also attend. Fee: $6.00 per person per time 10 Punch Card: $47.00 Time: Thursday 3:45 - 4:45 p.m. Freestyle Drop In (Pre-Freeskate and above ONLY) Freestyle Drop In is a time set aside for advanced skaters to practice. Only the qualified skater may be on the ice during this Drop-In (no friends or family members allowed). Current USFSA or ISI membership or affiliation with a USFSA or ISI club is required to attend. Please check our schedule for current times. Birthday Party at Roosevelt Park Ice Arena Bring your own party supplies, food and get your own reserved table in the mezzanine area. Aquatics Division Parent & Me This program offers a gentle, child-centered introduction to swimming. Parents and children will interact with the water through a variety of nursery rhymes, songs, and toys. Classes are meant to set the foundation for a life-long love of water. American Red Cross Health & Safety Courses Rapid City Aquatics is a Licensed Training Provider (LTP) of the American Red Cross. We offer a wide array of Health and Safety Courses at the Swim Center. We offer American Red Cross Blended Learning. Participants complete on-line studies then participate in an in-person skills session to complete their certification. This greatly reduces the amount of time a participants spends in the class room while being able to review material at their own pace and after the course for review material at any time. Lifeguard Training American Red Cross lifeguard participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class and must pass a pre-course swimming skills test. Courses are available in person, or via our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines on-line coursework with in-person skills sessions. Water-park & CPR for the Professional Rescuer is included. We also offer Waterfront Lifeguarding. In addition to full courses, abbreviated recertification courses are also available for those who hold current lifeguard certifications.
