Donor appreciation Al Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut would like to extend its sincere appreciation to its donors for their generous continuous support and contributions. Al Makassed was able to respond to the ever-increasing number of aid seekers and has reached over 20,000 families in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, to help ease up their silent suffering during the holy month of Ramadan. 3
Achievements’ breakdown Lebanon is enduring its worst socio-economic crisis since the Lebanese civil war, exacerbated by the Covid-19 global pandemic, and the 4th of August Port of Beirut explosion -ranked as the third-largest explosion in modern history-. This crisis caused severe disintegration to the societal fabric and deterioration to human-living conditions that left thousands of families below the poverty line with little to no access to basic human rights and needs. Amid this crisis, Al Makassed Islamic Philanthropic Association’s sectors have intensified their efforts to achieve its core mission, and fulfill its humanitarian duty during the month of Ramadan under the zakat campaign and projects. “Offer your Zakat during the month of goodness” campaign The Fundraising and Development Unit at Al Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association has launched the “Offer your Zakat during the month of goodness” Ramadan campaign, to raise awareness and incentivize people on the importance of Zakat. Zakat, the third pillar of Islamic Belief, is a charitable act, where people who fit certain financial criteria donate 2.5%, A fraction of their savings to the neediest.
