WELCOME Welcome to the first-ever Virtual Cookie Rally at Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO)! The Girl Scout Cookie Program is a fundamental part of the Girl Scout experience. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world and girls learn 5 key skills they will use for a lifetime: Goal setting—as she sets cookie sale goals and makes a plan to reach them. Decision-making—as she decides how her troop will spend the cookie money. Money management—as she makes a budget, takes orders and handles customers’ money. People skills—as she learns to talk and listen to all kinds of people while selling cookies. Business ethics—as she is honest and responsible every step of the way. A Cookie Rally helps girls get excited, energized, and prepared for the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Cookie Rally activities can be done throughout the Cookie Program to keep your Girl Scout engaged and motivated. Rally activities can be delivered throughout the season a variety of different ways: • In this booklet, with written instructions to follow at your own pace. • Via live stream, led by staff on GSNEO’s Facebook page • View the Little Brownie Baker Virtual Rally on the eBudde Help Center under the We’ve Got This Toolkit or at littlebrowniebakers.com/rally We encourage you to participate in at least one or a combination of all three options as you prepare for the Girl Scout Cookie season! Don’t forget: If you choose to participate with us on Facebook Live, we are broadcasting from Ohio in the Eastern time zone! We encourage you to share your virtual Rally experience on social media with the hashtag #SisterhoodSpirit. Whether you create a goal tracker, make a booth banner or sing a song with your troop over video chat, your at-home Cookie Rally creations will inspire girls across the world to try it themselves! Virtual Cookie Rally Technology Council-Led Activities GSNEO will post rally activities, videos and photos on Facebook throughout the afternoon from 12:00 -3:00 pm EST. These posts will remain accessible after the event, so you can also visit the page later to find them. Facebook Live is a live video format that allows you to watch and comment in real time. There will be a couple of Facebook Live videos over the course of the rally, and they will also remain accessible on GSNEO’s Facebook page after the event ends. Be sure to follow GSNEO on Facebook so you don’t miss any posts! For Troops/Families to Virtually Meet If you wish to connect with your troop, friends or family during the Cookie Rally, we encourage adults to choose the best platform that works for their group. Some video meeting platforms are: Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, WebEx and Google Hangouts. Best practices for video calls include: • Do a practice call before the event to sort out any tech issues. • Use settings to require a password to enter the meeting and share the password only with those you wish to attend. • Change screen sharing to “Host Only.” • Use settings to make the group leader be the first person allowed to join the call (disable “Join Before Host” so people cannot join before you arrive). • Enable “Co-Host” so you can assign a moderator. • Disable “File Transfer” to prevent cyber virus sharing. • Disable “Allow Removed Participants to Rejoin” so booted attendees can’t slip back in. • For help with specific platforms, find that platform’s Frequently Asked Questions. Visit GSNEO’s Girl Scouts at Home page to read more about Virtual Troops and Badges and Activities you can do at home. 2
