Pathway course graduate Jordan is now studying Marine Science “My grades weren’t very good in high school. After graduation I entered the workforce and almost completed a trade apprenticeship, however what I really wanted to do was to follow my passion for the ocean and turn it into a career. When I found out about Southern Cross University’s Preparing for Success at SCU Program I wasn’t sure if I was even capable of studying. I really went in with no expectations, but to my surprise, I did quite well. It prepared me for studying, got me the grades I needed to enrol and taught me the skills to do well at university. I’m over halfway through my degree now and the subjects are really interesting. We go on field practicals to rockpools, beaches, rivers and I’ve also done my scuba dive instructor course down in Coffs Harbour. I was also selected for the New Colombo Plan Scholarship and this has enabled me to study extensively overseas.
