This quarter we celebrated the month of Reconciliation. This day acts as a catalyst for
reconciliation and nation building. Our first democratically elected South African
president and the Patron-in-chief of The Freedom Park, Dr Nelson Mandela, captured
the essence of this day in his address on Nation Reconciliation Day, 16 December
1995: “There are few countries which dedicate a national public holiday to reconciliation.
But then there are few nations with our history of enforced division, oppression and
sustained conflict. And fewer still, which have undergone such a remarkable transition to
reclaim their humanity . . . This Day of Reconciliation celebrates the progress we have
made; it reaffirms our commitment; and it measures the challenges.”

As we conclude celebrations around our 20th Anniversary activities we are mindful of the
year that has passed, a year of great sorrow as the pandemic ravaged our country and
the world. And yet work must carry on and much as our celebrations were tinged with
sadness of the many people we lost we are hopeful that things will get better.

On the 30th October 2020 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary of honouring our heroes
and heroines, we should not forget why Freedom Park was conceptualised, its
significance and what it means to the nation, but more than that we want the world to
experience the architectural and breath-taking beauty of the site.

The anniversary of a company is a very special moment in our history and a reason for
a grand celebration. It's natural for any company to want to organise a celebration for
their anniversary. This is the most important day in the company's history and the
achievements of the organization are the results of the combined efforts of every
individual in the organization. It was indeed special.
