Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. The role of psychologists has diversified to cater for the needs of the individual as well as for communities, professions and organisations. Note: International students in Singapore on a Student Pass are not permitted to work. For more information please visit www.ica.gov.sg JCU Singapore is EduTrust Certified. The EduTrust certification scheme is administered by the Council for Private Education (CPE) a statutory board formed in 2009. EduTrust requires all students to be covered under a Fee Protection Scheme. In JCU Singapore, this is provided through an insurance protection scheme. Further, EduTrust also requires that the students must be covered under a medical insurance coverage which has provision for hospitalisation, surgery and treatment costs throughout their course duration. Bachelor of Psychology & Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) Duration: Our Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Bachelor of Psychology: 3 years full time (up to 6 years part time) Arts (Psychology) degrees are accredited by the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology): 2 years full time (up to 4 years part time) Australian Psychology Accreditation Council Graduate Diploma of Psychology: 1 year full time (APAC). (up to 2 years part time) Course Structure: 3 trimesters per year It is the first step towards becoming a professional (full time - normally 4 subjects per trimester) (part time - normally 2 subjects per trimester) psychologist and provides the necessary background Intakes: March, July, November for further study at Master and Doctoral levels. Study Program For the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), students need to complete 24 subjects at Levels 1-3. For the Bachelor of Psychology, students need to complete 24 subjects at Levels 1-3 and an additional 4 subjects at Level 4, for which students must meet specified criteria. Graduate Diploma of Psychology This course is an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited program. It offers a mixture of supervised research and advanced coursework. *Entry to the program requires a completed three-year undergraduate degree with a specialisation in psychology (with a minimum Credit average across level 3 subjects), accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) Study Program The professional programs encompass three main components: Students are required to complete 96 credit points: Academic Coursework Year 1, Semester 1: 12 credit points The coursework modules are usually delivered as 6 full-day teaching Psychological Assessment sessions and some may be delivered in workshop format (e.g. two Working with Clients 3-day workshops). Students are actively engaged in presentations, Adult Psychopathology role-plays, practice assessments and group discussions. Planning the Research: Doctoral Candidates Supervised Practica Year 1, Semester 2: 13 credit points There is a total of 1,000 practical hours for the Masters program Methods of Intervention 1 (students in the Doctoral program will complete an additional 500 Child and Family Therapy hours), which are conducted in the JCU Singapore Psychology Clinic Practicum 1 and in external clinical settings. Situating the Research: Doctoral Candidates Research Thesis Year 2, Semester 1: 13 credit points Health and Rehabilitation A research project focusing on an area of clinical psychology is Methods of Intervention 2 conducted and written up as a conventional research dissertation. The Practicum 2 Doctoral dissertation is equal to that for a PhD.
