Cian Reilly is a young Gaelic footballer who struggles to come to terms with a career-ending injury after a violent attack on a night out. At the same time, he begins a friendship with Grace, a nurse who is back in town to look after her ailing father following some time away in London. Cian tries to find meaning in other areas of life, but the pull from the team and pressure from the town is strong. He soon finds himself risking it all by returning to football against doctor’s orders and considering seeking retribution against his assailants. With the Second World War escalating, the sisters decide to use the machine to intercept information from the future that could help with military intelligence. The machine initially proves to be a huge success, rapidly twisting the fortunes of the war against the Nazis. While Thom becomes intoxicated by LOLA, Mars begins to realise the terrible consequences of its power. As their relationship falls apart, a fatal error with the machine creates a nightmarish future. Revisiting the last 40 years of her life, Joan composes retired. Proud and stubborn Howard is reluctant and hostile when Grace hires a fragmented and noisy picture of her existence. Her son, Nathan, who has Annie, 70 to provide domestic help.
