The BEAT 19 October, 2018 Website: diepos.co.za NEWS |3 Kgaugelo ‘Majoro’ Sebola attracts big clubs Kgaugelo Sebola beats an opponent during a recent soccer match. Photo: TK Mashaba Professional soccer agents have an eye on Kgaugelo Sebola. Photo: TK Mashaba TK Mashaba Bela-Bela soccer sensation, Kgaugelo “Majoro” Sebola, was early in the week on the brink of fame and possibly fortune, with no less than three Gauteng-based soccer brands looking for his signature. Limpopo-based Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaigners, Baroka Football Club, also had an eye on the youngster. The BEAT reported in recent weeks that 15-year-old Sebola was one of the players who made a huge impact on big teams, on the occasion of the Copa Coca-Cola Cup staged in the Eastern Cape. The latest move was when Sebola reportedly impressed former Bafana Bafana coach and soccer legend, Jomo Sono, during assessment trials at Ekurhuleni’s Makhulong Stadium on Monday 15 October. Jomo Cosmos FC is among the chasing pack for promotion in the second-tier National First Division. Circling not far away over Sebola were also PSL campaigners, Caf Champions League winners, Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United and Limpopo’s Baroka. Sebola currently plies his trade at the Bela-Bela Soccer Academy based at Bela- Bela High School. The player’s agent, Bina Maseko, said his next assessment was scheduled for Baroka FC at a yet-to-be-decided date, while the two Pretoria-based clubs were also awaiting in the wings. Sebola was first spotted by Maseko at the age of 13 in the year 2015, playing for Spa Park Primary School. “Kgaugelo is a disciplined professional, who should find his place easily and at the highest level of South African football,” Maseko said. Bela-Bela Soccer Academy coach, Sam Modise, said he was personally thrilled by the youngster’s progress. Suffice to say soccer has opened up incredible opportunities for previously unknown stars like the sensational Lionel Messi of Barcelona FC in the Spanish La Liga.
