We have sent every household in the borough a form with details of the electors registered at the property, as part of the annual canvass. Born in Redhill in 1881, Rupert Hallowes was awarded the Victoria Cross for his ‘most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty’ during the fighting at Hooge, Belgium in September 1915. The Victoria Cross is the highest military decoration awarded for valour in the face of the enemy. The Mayor will unveil the stone in Memorial Park at 12pm on 25 September, the centenary of the battle for which he won his medal. A new Morrisons M Local convenience store is being built on the former Iron Horse pub site, along with a pharmacy, dry cleaners and bookmakers. We've cleared overgrown footpaths, cut back invasive plant species, litter picked, planted trees and built invertebrate shelters. Alasdair loves all the different tools and getting a little mucky; he is so proud at the end of each task looking back at what we've achieved.”

Take our recycling challenge to see what items in your home could start a new life as something else. Recycling in the bathroom – go on the hunt for: • toothpaste boxes • toilet roll tubes • plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles • shower gel containers • liquid soap bottles • bleach and bathroom cleaner bottles.
