PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.0 INTRODUCTION The Mining Lease was granted in favor of Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report Brief Description of nature of the project Smt P.Jayalalitha has grant of Q.L for Colour granite over an extent of 2.83 hectares occurring at Sy.No.10 (P) of Raikurudu Village, Seethampeta Mandal, Srikakulam District for a period of 20 years. The Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Srikakulam, vide File No.4217/Q/02 dated: 23.08.2003 submitted the proposals recommending for grant of quarry lease for Colour granite over an extent of 2.83 hectares occurring at Sy No.10(P) of Raikurudu Village & Seethampeta Mandal, Srikakulam District, A.P, in favour of Smt P. Jayalalitha. After, careful Examination of the proposals of the Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Srikakulam, it is decided in principle to grant of quarry lease for Colour Granite over a precise extent of 2.83 Ha., in Sy.No.10 (P), of Raikurudu Village, Seethampeta Mandal, Srikakulam District A.P, in favour of Smt P. Jayalalitha, for a period of 20 years subject submission of Approved Mining Plan issued by the Director of Mines & Geology, Ibrahimpatnam vide Notice No.32908/R1-3/2002, dated.14.03.2018. The Mining Plan Approved Vide Letter No.768/MP-SKM/2018, dated: 21.07.2003. Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region. In the present scenario, the Colour granite has good market in the country apart for export purpose. The available granite is made of rough blocks, slabs, panel and tiles, monuments and other fancy and decorative items like pen stand, flower vases, table tops-tea troy & others. High precision products like surface plates may also be made for engineering application. Demand-supply Gap. There is a demand of Color Granite and is ever growing with the growth of industrial sector in the country. The requirement of the mineral is always found high in adjoining areas.
PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report Imports V/s Indigenous production Colour Granite mined from the proposed project will neither be exported nor imported. It is an indigenous production and will be supplied within the country. Export Possibility No export. Domestic/ Export Markets Color granite is having good demand in export and domestic market. The applicant has contacted the buyers at Chennai and other important trade centers to export the rough blocks of color granite from this area. All efforts will be made to improve the market trend and demand to ensure that the venture is a profitable one. Employment generation (Direct and Indirect due to the project) The proposed project will generate direct employment to 42 people and indirectly in transportation etc. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects, if any The proposed mining project is mining of Color Granite in semi-mechanized open cast method by using hydraulic excavators, tippers, jackhammer drills. Location: The above said quarry lease falls in Topo sheet No. 64 N/10. The Quarry lease area is located at a distance of about 1.2 kms from Raikurudu village. The Mandal Head Quarters Seethampeta is located at the distance of 12.0 kms. The quarry lease area can be approached from Palakonda-Kothuru Road.

Mining activities are carried out based on local geology and availability of the mineral. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report Project description with process details The method of quarrying is in semi-mechanized open cast method by using hydraulic excavators, tippers, jack hammer drills. The blocks will be cut in conventional Wire Saw cutter and will be split. The larger blocks will further be reduced to smaller handable sizes. Raw Material Required Along With Estimated Quantity, Likely Source, Marketing Area of Final Products, Mode of Transport of Raw Material and Finished Product No raw material will be required in the proposed project. The available granite is made of rough blocks, slabs, panel and tiles, monuments and other fancy and decorative items like pen stand, flower vases, table tops-tea troy & others. Except removal of overburden in the upper layer, no mineral processing will be carried out in the mine lease area. Resource optimization/ recycling and reuse. Minerals are depleting assets once mined; they cannot be replenished like agriculture, vegetation thus a scientific approach will be taken up in exploitation of mineral with systematic method. Mining work will be carried out by semi-mechanized open cast method. 75% of the solid waste will be disposed for roads developments and building material. Availability of water its source, energy/ power requirement and source Water Requirement Around 11.5 KLD of water will be required for the project activity. Water requirement will be met through water tankers. Water is required in the mine for spraying on the roads and working faces to suppress the dust. Solid Waste Generation & its Disposal The solid waste generated will be disposed to the proposed dump yard i.e. existing within the lease area. It will be send to send to septic tank followed by soak pit. 4. SITE ANALYSIS Connectivity The quarry lease area is connected by Palakonda - Kothuru Road which is 4.7 kms away from the site. Nearest Railway Station The nearest rail head is Amudalavalasa Railway station at a distance of 56.0 kms from the mine location.

Nearest Highway National highway-NH-16 at a distance of 66 kms Land form, land use and land ownership During the ensuing scheme period an area of 2.83 Ha., of land mining will be done as per approved mine plan. Measures will be taken for the reclamation only after the end of mining scheme period. Existing land use pattern The quarry lease applied area is surrounded by hillocks comprising export quality granite, Excavation of the precious granite from the village is bringing in additional income to the gram panchayath, besides agricultural practices are very good. Existing infrastructure There are no major constructions seen near to the mining lease area. Temporary Office, Rest Shelter, Drinking Water Facilities, First aid facilities will be provided by the applicant of the mining lease area. Soil classification The generated top soil will be preserved as a separate stock for future. The over burden/ generated waste will be stocked in earmarked area for waste dumping. Climatic data from secondary sources CLIMATE & RAINFALL The quarry lease applied area is falling under semi-arid tropical zone. The area is having dry climate. The temperature recorded in this area is 250C in winter and about 480C in

The average annual rainfall of the area is 1000 mm. 4.9 Social infrastructure available All the social infrastructure facilities like hospitals, schools, colleges etc are available nearby villages, Mandal headquarters. 5 .0 PLANNING BRIEF Planning concept (Type of industries, facilities, transportation etc) Town and Country Planning/Development authority Classification. It is proposed to produce 41,500 M3 of market grade rough blocks during the plan period with an average annual production of 8,300 M3. Benches of 6M height and 6M width will be developed during plan period. Population projection The project will employ nearly 42 workers from nearby villages. Thus, there will not be any increase in population due to the project. Land use planning Land use planning explained under Existing Land Use Pattern. Assessment of Infrastructure Demand (Physical and Social) Safety equipments, small rest shelter and first aid facilities will be made available for the workers in the mine lease area. Amenities/facilities The following facilities will be extended by the mine management: i. Direct and indirect Employment. ii. Arrangement for safe and healthy working conditions. iii. Provision of drinking water. iv. Conducting medical camps for workers and nearby villagers at regular intervals.
PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report 6. PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE Industrial area (Processing Area) No mineral processing will be carried out in the mine lease area. After excavation, the color granite will be dispatched as per orders. Residential area (Non Processing Area) The mine workers will be hired from nearby villages, so residential areas will not be made. Green belt Plantation will be made at open places and along the approach road. Drinking Water Management Water Requirement for drinking purpose is 2.0 KLD which will be supplied by water tankers. Sewerage System Domestic wastewater generated will be send to septic tank followed by soak pit. Industrial Waste Management Not Applicable Solid Waste Management The waste generated during the mining will be dumped in the SW of the quarry lease area Power Requirement & Supply/ Source Not Applicable.

Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R & R) PLAN Policy to be adopted (Central/State) in respect of the project affected persons including home oustees, land oustees and landless laborers (a brief outline to be given) No human settlements exist in the M.L. area and no humans will be displaced from the area so the proposed project does not involve any rehabilitation and resettlement. PROJECT SCHEDULE & COST ESTIMATES Likely date of start of construction and likely date of completion (Time schedule for the project to be given) The project will commence once Environmental Clearance and other necessary certificates are obtained from the respective departments. Estimated project cost along with analysis in terms of economic viability of the project. The envisaged maximum annual production of Color Granite in a year is estimated to be 8,300 Cum/Annum. The cost of the project : 23.00 Lakhs EMP Cost : 8.0 Lakhs ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (Final recommendations): The main occupation of villagers is agriculture and sheep raring. The commencement of mining activity in this area improved the socio-economic status of the local people by creation of employment and paying taxes to gram Panchayath. The mining in this area does not involve any hazardous methods. The lessee is providing first aid facilities at mine site.
