About Mansfield Medical Clinic Mansfield Medical Clinic (MMC) is a rural medical practice that provides high quality medical care to the people of Mansfield and the surrounding area. Located next to the Mansfield District Hospital, it is accredited to the standards set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is also an accredited teaching practice within the Murray City Country Coast GP Training and the University of Melbourne. The MMC provides a broad range primary care services incorporating a range of on-site allied health practitioners. Located in the rural township of Mansfield and at the edge of the Victorian High Country in North East Victoria. It is close to both Lake Eildon, and the Mount Buller & Mount Stirling Alpine Resorts, and therefore offers a range of recreational pursuits in both summer and winter. A diverse geographical region made up of a series of fertile valleys, surrounded by Victoria’s famous High Country. The region covers an area of around 4,000 square km’s and has a population of around 8,000 people.
Living in the Mansfield Region The picturesque township of Mansfield is situated 180 kms north east of Melbourne (only 2 hours’ drive). The landscape is dominated by the Great Dividing Range and includes the alpine resorts of Mount Buller and Mount Stirling. Natural environment features within Mansfield Shire are the Alpine National Park and Australia’s second largest inland waterway – Lake Eildon. Mansfield Shire boasts major river systems, lakes, mountains, vast tracts of what is referred to as ‘High Country’, and broad, productive valleys where agriculture and rural living integrate. The area is popular for recreation and lifestyle activities and the Mansfield Shire is tourism destination of national significance. Mansfield retains a reputation for classic country hospitality and a passionate and fearless sense of self that acknowledges diversity and is welcoming to the many who aspire to call Mansfield home. Mansfield has a good selection of schools in the local area to choose from with three kindergartens, four primary schools, one secondary college years 7 – 12, Steiner School kinder to year 12 and Mansfield Autistic Centre. Mansfield Secondary College is renowned for its on-farm agribusiness program, school-based apprenticeships with links into multiple levels of the business community and the Mount Buller Annex operating with a full curriculum and on snow program in the winter term. About the Role General Purpose of Position To manage the operations of the clinic including human resources, financial records and to implement quality systems in order to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the clinic and provide an exceptional standard of care to our patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In accordance with legislative requirements and Clinic Policies & Procedures: • Work with principals to develop and implement strategies for achievement of the clinic’s vision and goals • Responsibility for Risk Management, Complaints Management and Quality Improvement within the practice. • Prepare budgets & plans accordingly & provide regular reports on the Clinics performance in relation to goals. • Recruitment, development and management of non-clinical practice staff to ensure high quality performance and continuing professional improvement. • Leadership and management including team building, delegation of tasks and conflict resolution. • Rostering – preparation of rosters for doctors including On-Call roster. • Administration of payroll to ensure both employee and employer interests are protected, tax/superannuation obligations are met and records are maintained. Processing of payroll for principals, doctor & allied health sole traders and employee doctors. • Review and improve the clinic systems to ensure smooth and efficient functioning, high quality services and continuous improvement. • Maintain and control debtors, creditors and general ledger to ensure maximum profitability & cash flow and compliance with all taxation, record keeping and other statutory requirements. • Prepare financial reports & taxation records and liaise with external accountant. • Maintain awareness of current and new legislation to ensure the business is complying with all statutory and regulatory obligations including Industrial & Employment Law, OH&S requirements, Privacy obligations and Taxation responsibilities. • Ensure relevant personnel are kept informed and changes are made to systems and procedures as required. • Ensure the Clinic complies with all contractual obligations.
Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated behaviours and personal attributes: • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. • Well presented, friendly, courteous and obliging. • Represent the clinic in a confident and positive manner at all times. • Undertake all duties in a diligent manner, with honesty and integrity • Have a vigilant attitude to accuracy, being prepared to double check as necessary. • Ability to work cooperatively and independently. • Ability to prioritise and organise, with attention to detail. • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Essential Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience: • Demonstrated experience and/or qualifications within a management role. • Proven ability to manage a medical practice including human resources, planning, budgeting, reporting & rostering (minimum of two years’ experience in this role). • Sound computer skills including excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and relevant medical software applications. • Sound knowledge and understanding of current Legislation and Privacy Laws. • Sound knowledge and understanding of Accreditation for General Practice. Desirable Qualifications Education and/or Experience • Diploma of Practice Management or equivalent. • Experience with Best Practice – Clinical & Management software. • Experience with Zedmed – Medical Practice Management software.
Remuneration A competitive remuneration package dependent on experience and qualifications will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
