Poland has offers to perfectly match the present trends in the furniture industry More time at home – rest and work The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many people to appreciate the value of their home again. A flat, as a safe retreat, has provided shel- ter against this deadly virus for many months. It turned out that not only do we sleep and rest in our homes, but we also work, exercise, par- ticipate in teleconferences, lessons, and even organize concerts. Polish furniture branch is now well-established in the current situation, because it has offered multi-function furniture (smart furniture) for years. Poland specialized in multi-function furniture for families with adolescent children. In Poland, it is not dificult to find a sofa with a sleeping option or wall units and shelves facili- tating the organization of personal belongings as well as documents necessary for work. Doz- ens of companies now offer practical solutions for small flats, which have become more and more popular in the cities. Meble Wójcik, collection Luci Polish Furniture Industry 2020 5

Additionally, it is the application of numerous func- tions in furniture, creative and in- telligent use of technologies and materials to achieve the design or functional effect, or unconventional use of ambiguous spaces, benefit- ing to the highest degree from their potential. Furniture from Poland is ideal for both families with ado- lescents and for a new generation of the millennium. Tabanda, Retro Orange The craft and respect for natural material reflect the at- titude that we, Poles, have for the natural environment. Here in Poland, we have the largest areas of primal forest on the European plains, forming the Białow- ieża Forest. Also, here in Poland, we have a strategic program for increasing the forest area, as a result of which in 2020 almost 30% of Poland was cov- ered with forests, and by 2050, this index is anticipated to increase by a further 3%. In Poland, even chipboard is used for furni- ture production as an ecological material, often obtained from recycled timber or less valuable categories of wood, thanks to which it is possible to spare the priceless forest resources. The stability of Polish furniture companies is based on long-term traditions, dating back to the XIV century The tradition of furniture production asso- ciated in guilds has a long and well-estab- lished history in Poland, and its beginnings can be found in the historical sources from the 14th century. Over the course of the centuries, furniture manufacturing became more and more organized and, in the time of the industrial revolution, the first furniture factories were established in Poland. These factories still operate today, proving almost 140 years of business continuity. Examples of such factories are Fameg in Radomsko or Paged in Jasienica. A similar history belongs to many families, for instance, Mr Bernard Jończyk from Dobrodzień who has continued the tradition of furniture produc- tion for four generations. In the family of Jan Szynaka, the fourth generation is now working in the company, and for Piotr Wójcik, the third generation of furniture makers is emerging. The tradition translates into the profession- alism of today’s staff and a series of solu- tions which, when adapted to modern pro- duction technologies, provide a competitive advantage to Polish companies.
