Peru is consolidating as an attractive place for mining investments, despite the pandemic. In a “new normal” scenario, the mining sector shows its social commitment, resilience and adaptation for the future.

MINING INVESTMENT 2020: Mining investment totaled US $ 4.3 billion, surpassing the goal of US $ 4.2 billion. Likewise, there is a significant recovery of 66.8% from the second to the fourth quarter of the year, even exceeding that registered in the first quarter. MINING EMPLOYMENT 2020: At the end of 2020, 177 692 people were directly employed on average showing a continuous recovery since the end of the second quarter. This achievement meant a positive variation of 42.0% between the second and the last quarter of 2020. MINING INVESTMENT PROJECTION TO 2025 • By 2021, it is estimated that with the start of construction of new projects, the annual investment will amount to US$ 5.2 billion, representing a growth of 21% compared to the amount registered in 2020. • Likewise, this positive trend is expected to continue towards year 2022 with an approximate investment of US$ 6 billion, representing an increase of 16% compared to the previous year. • For the period 2023-2025, it is estimated that investment execution levels will remain above US$ 5 billion.
