The world-leading development will see a new branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum and a 550-seat theatre for Sadler’s Wells, as well as new campuses for UCL and UAL’s London College of Fashion. Over the past three years, these organisations have been working within the local community to help shape the foundations for what will be a unique and groundbreaking project for both the Park and east London. Through bringing together these world-class universities and arts and cultural institutions with local businesses and communities, the partners have already begun forging exciting and important links with the wider community ahead of the delivery of the overall scheme in 2022. Since 2015, initiatives and programmes jointly delivered by the institutions have resulted in: • 100,000 people attending a range of arts and cultural events, summer schools and workshops • 118 local people gaining jobs and apprenticeships in the arts, cultural, creative, digital and tech sectors • 12 graduates placed in paid work experience for Architecture and Engineering students with partners Projects include establishing east London as an international centre for all aspects of the fashion business; the creation of the 'Every Child a Dancer' scheme supporting educational activity through dance; and our work with UCL in providing free legal advice, casework and representation to local residents through the Sir Ludwig Guttmann Health Centre and the UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic.
