Workshops Thursday UNDERSTAND YOUR OWN COMMUNICATION STYLE AND HOW TO SAY NO: Steph Holloway Sometimes it can be hard not to say “YES”, when you really want to say “NO”. What holds us back from being able to say what we really mean? It could be down to our pre-conditions that we bring into communication interactions. These can be from upbringing, significant life events, certain environments, or even individual people. For over 50 years we've been taught that there are only four true communication styles, and which of these styles you predominantly 'run' on affects the way you think, how you act, and how others perceive you. How can we find the right words then, to ensure we feel confident to say no without offending people? By gaining clarity on the language, body language and messaging we are using, and comprehending how that helps or hinders us in life! DEALING WITH ALPHAS—USING COMMPASSIONATE ASSERTIVENESS: Steph Holloway Occasionally, we find ourselves working for, or with ‘Alpha’ personalities. What are they, how did they get that way, and why do they challenge some people more than others? What do we need to know about Alphas to help us work more effectively with them, and minimise the negative impact that they can create? You'll gain wisdom on how you can step up with confidence using Compassionate Assertiveness as a tool. Compassionate Assertiveness is the easiest, quickest way to live an authentic life - and corrective coach 'less than ideal' behaviour of others. OVERCOME THE OVERWHELM: Lauren Parsons Ever feel overwhelmed or wish you could feel more calm, confident and in control? This session will help you get out of the ‘overwhelm trap’ by uncovering the number one mistake most people make, which keeps them stuck. Learn exactly how to juggle the multiple demands of life, work and family, while staying calm, centred and in control. Transform the way you approach and structure your life and workflows so you achieve much more in less time, regain balance and experience more joy and satisfaction. MINUTE TAKING: Ian Harper Welcome to the Minute Taking training workshop. Taking the time to record proper meeting notes ensures the time and effort that goes into a meeting isn’t wasted and that decisions and actions can be enforced. This course will help empower you to become even more efficient, productive and professional. This course is designed to create structure and better understanding as to what should be recorded as the minutes of the meeting. HOW TO THRIVE: Lauren Parsons As a busy professional it can be difficult to fit in time to exercise or eat well, let alone master the motivation to do so. This session will dispel the myths and give you practical, time-saving strategies to overcome the most common challenges busy people face when improving their health. Discover Lauren's transformational, holistic framework of Live Well Principles which will guide you to uplift, nourish, invigorate, strengthen and restore your body and mind, equipping you to perform at your peak. SISTERHOOD OF STYLE: Emma John Come and join Emma as she teaches you style tips, tricks and tools to achieve your unique look, working within your budget, timeframes and your own wardrobes. Her passion is to help every woman feel more confident and make it their number one accessory. Her mission is to help women to feel their best and curate the wardrobe of your dreams, to make getting dressed easier every day, so you can get on with the fun of living. 8

LORRAINE DOWNES Lorraine Downes was thrust into the international spotlight when she became the first, and still the only New Zealander to win the Miss Universe title in 1983. Such a coveted crown has come with high demands and expectations, and she's been a household name ever since. A career in modelling and Lorraine created, owned and sold a successful Model Agency. She continues her styling business and her work as a brand ambassador and spokesperson for different charities. Along the way she's had two wonderful children and written two successful books. She's also had periods away from the spotlight, contrasting with the very public cancer battle of her late husband, New Zealand cricket great Martin Crowe, who died in 2016. Throughout all this, Lorraine has become known for her grace and humility, with a philosophical approach to her challenges and an unselfish acceptance of her successes. 13
