Dear Family and Friends of Spiritus Sanctus Academy,
I
t is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our 25th Annual Spiritus Sanctus Academy Benefit
Gala. What better way could we mark our 25th Gala than by making it unique – such as holding it
via livestream amid a global pandemic? No matter the venue, it is always truly a blessing to gather
to thank God for His many gifts, especially for our Spiritus Sanctus Academies and our terrific families,
students and staff. We are truly grateful for your gracious support of our schools – your enthusiastic
generosity is vital in helping us to make our mission of forming the hearts, minds and souls of our
students according to God’s holy will a reality.
Much has transpired since last year’s Gala. This has been a year of challenges, but also one of countless
blessings, not the least of which is that we have been able to have our children with us in our schools
since August! Our Gala theme of HOPE is certainly appropriate - hope is sorely needed by everyone in
our world today, to be able to trust in the plans our Lord has for us – a future full of hope (Jer 29:11).
We continue to strive to form the hearts, minds and souls of each of our precious students with deep
faith, abiding hope and confident trust in God’s loving providence for our Spiritus Sanctus Academies.
Our mission of Catholic education is the result of a vital partnership with our dedicated and committed
staff, our school families, our benefactors and friends.
This year we are delighted to present the 2021 Medal of Saint Dominic to Mr. Gordon Leipold. Gordon
has been a stalwart supporter of our community and the Spiritus Sanctus Academies since their inception.
Serving on our SSA School Board for a number of years, Gordon has always provided wise, sage and
faith-filled counsel as he has supported our mission of Catholic education in the Dominican tradition. We
are eternally grateful for Gordon’s contributions to our schools and are glad to have the opportunity to
honor him and express our gratitude for his goodness and prayerful support.
I also wish to express to all of our Spiritus Sanctus Academy parents our deepest, heartfelt gratitude
for entrusting your precious children to us. We recognize the sacrifice and hope-filled trust it takes
to provide them with a Catholic education. To our grandparents, extended family members, friends,
sponsors and benefactors - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous support of our
schools. We are greatly encouraged by your goodness, and we acknowledge that our efforts simply
would not be possible without your support.
Please be assured of our prayers for each of you; we humbly ask for your prayers for us as well as we
continue in our highly important mission of forming future generations so that they will know and love
our Lord and cherish the immense gift of our beautiful Catholic Faith. May our dear Lord abundantly
bless each of you and your families, now and always.

SPIRITUS SANCTUS ACADEMY (SSA)
Spiritus Sanctus Academies (Latin for Holy Spirit) are
private Catholic K-8 schools in the Ann Arbor and
Plymouth areas of Southeast Michigan. The schools have
been administered by the Dominican Sisters of Mary,
Mother of the Eucharist and staffed by faith-filled laity
for over 20 years. As the Faith is central to the schools,
Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation are offered
regularly, and with a chapel at the heart of each campus,
students have frequent opportunities for Adoration of
the Blessed Sacrament.
The mission of Spiritus Sanctus Academy is to create a
unique educational environment in which learning and
practicing the Truths of the Catholic Faith are central to
the development of each child. In partnership with the
families, the schools strive to provide a well-rounded
Catholic education for their students, rooted in the
Truths of the Faith, and the educational scholarship
needed to prosper in the worldwide community of
this millennium. Each student’s individual talents and
gifts are challenged and developed according to their
capacity so that they might use them for the honor and
glory of God, for their own spiritual and temporal good,
and for the good of their neighbor.

Gordon was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio Arbor to become a part of the Word of God
in 1945 with his mother and sister to be near his Charismatic Christian Community joining what is

talks and time for personal meditation in silence. Conferences are preached
by the priests of Miles Christi according to the method and principles of St.

Stunning Sanibel Island, located along the Gulf of Mexico and just a short drive
from Ft. Myers, is famous for its lush beaches, luxurious sunsets and lovely
lighthouse. If your idea of a getaway is slowing down the pace, relaxing on the
beach and surrounded by nature, you must not miss this one-week stay in a newly
remodeled Loggerhead Cay condo on Sanibel’s east end. Plantation shutters
add to the island feel and make this unit very light and bright. Accommodations
sleep up to six with a king bed in the master bedroom, two twins in the guest
bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Simply walk out the back
door and you’re at the large heated pool and nearby beach with direct access to
the Gulf of Mexico--no stairs or elevators to hassle with! Fill your days with fun
