INSULATED PANELS KINGSPAN / LOW ENERGY - LOW CARBON BUILDINGS Optimo Architectural Façade System Construction advantages Using the Optimo pre-engineered insulated module system offers the following advantages over traditional Steel and expensive Aluminium ‘built-up’ system methods of construction. Non-deleterious materials. Guaranteed U-Value throughout lifecycle. M Reliable low air leakage – 0,017 m3/h/m2 50Pa (according EN12114:2001). 100% reliable thermal performance and insulation continuity, no cavities, no gaps, no cold bridges or interstitial condensation risk associated with built-up systems. Pre-engineered – light weight, single component – single fix installation reduces build time by up to 50%. Adds structural integrity to the building envelope. Pre-engineered BS EN IS0 9001 quality approved product. Guaranteed long term performance with up to 25 years to first maintenance and overall life expectancy of up to 40 years. 4—www.kingspan.info
Coupled with the ability to create eye catching designs, a clear advantage of Optimo over competitor aluminium systems is the variety of colour finishes that the system has to offer. See page 16 for details. www.kingspan.info—5

INSULATED PANELS KINGSPAN / LOW ENERGY - LOW CARBON BUILDINGS Optimo Innovation Optimo is the result of intensive research. Testament to the Kingspan commitment to solutions through technological innovation. Suitable for all business sectors in throughout Europe due to high production standards. Carefully controlled manufacturing process to ISO EN9002 ensuring precise tolerances. Complies with new European Union Energy perfomance in Buildings Directive. (EPBD). Superior IPN insulation performance ensuring attainmaent of ‘A’ standard of energy efficiency. Optimo can be readily integrated with all with different architectual options, side rails, doors glazing, windows, etc. Optimo has been manufactured and engineered to comply with stringent fire safety standards including Factory Mutal (FM) insurer approved standard. Optimum Refurbishment The Kingspan Optimo Insulated Wall System is ideal for new build or refurbishment projects and provides architects with the creative freedom to design eye-catching and contemporary buildings. The added value of any Optimo design for building refurbishment is that it will incorporate functional and practical Before Refurbishment benefits when compared to ‘built-up’ systems such as: More efficient insulation. More usable building space. Easy integration with doors, windows & other accessories. Better structural integrity. Significantly quicker speed of construction. After Refurbishment 10—www.kingspan.info
Optimo vs Built-up Systems Optimo vs Composite Aluminium Systems: Optimo System Composite systems Optimo is engineered to be self supporting. Requires additional Steel substructure. Quicker construction time due to less parts to install. Slower and more costly due to more parts to fit and more steel involved. Insulation integrated in to the panel ensures no diminishing of insulation or thermal bridges. Can be subject to cold bridges and moisture may build up during construction. Opitmo is a single component system that carrries a Kingspan warranty. Composite systems require many different parts and each carrying different warranties. Optimo can be stored any where suitable on site and installed during any weather conditions. Has to be stored in dry place and kept out of the rain to prevent water ingress. Optimo finish carries the full Kingspan Spectrum coating finish with performance guarantee. Aluminium finishes will oxidise over time or will require expensive powder coating. Optimo guarantees air tight joints for greater thermal performance. insulation is stable and will not shrink. Composite systems will suffer from air leakage due to shrinkage over time. This will also result The Optimo system is efficiently designed resulting in in the creation of a cavity between panels and less waste during construction. the generation of harmful condensation as air passes through. Composite systems are subject to higher waste levels during construction. www.kingspan.info—11
INSULATED PANELS KINGSPAN / LOW ENERGY - LOW CARBON BUILDINGS Optimo Alu Frame Optimo Alu Frame This ‘picture frame’ version of the Optimo Systems - accentuates the exterior wall image of the building, and significantly is able to reflect the geometry of other critical aspects of a design, such as glazing. The horizontal and vertical frame effect of Optimo Alu Frame produces a curtain wall detail, featuring coated aluminium snap-on vertical mullion (SP2) and horizontal transom (SP3). 12—www.kingspan.info
Optimo Inline Optimo Inline Black takaróprofil This Optimo option marries the horizontal tongue and groove joint with a visually pleasing coated aluminium top hat (SP8) with a rubber gasket insert (SP10). Optimo Inline Silver takaróprofil This Optimo option also offers the coated aluminium top hat with a coated aluminium insert (SP9) for an alternative look. www.kingspan.info—13
INSULATED PANELS KINGSPAN / LOW ENERGY - LOW CARBON BUILDINGS Optimo Onyx Optimo Onyx The vertical panel joint of the Optimo Onyx features a black EPDM push-in fir-tree gasket (SP4) with a 30mm wide front face. When combined with a complementary 30mm wide horizontal gasket (SP11) the result is a subtle, yet distinctive, bi-modular picture-frame effect, providing a powerful visual counterpoint to the panel. 14—www.kingspan.info

INSULATED PANELS KINGSPAN / LOW ENERGY - LOW CARBON BUILDINGS Optimo Compliance Optimo contains an IPN core which not only has immense benefits for Firesafety of a building it also provides great insulation properties. These properties can be seen in the table below. The table clearly demonstrates that the U-values for Optimo - in comparison with other built-up systems – changes are insignificant after instal- lation considering cold bridges. In addition the IPN foam insulation will keep its insulation value throughout the life span of the building for up to 40 years. “R” and “U(k)” Values of Cassettes System “R” and “U(k)” Values of Sandwich Panels Thickness U(k) R Cassettes t = 0,75 mm Sandwich Panels Sandwich Panels of Value of Value of Insulation Mineral Mineral Wool Wool Non interrupted Interrupted IPN IPN Mineral Wool Mineral Wool Insulation Insulation Cold Bridges Cold Bridges Panels Complete Wall Panels Complete Wall Core Core U(k) R U(k) R U(k) R U(k) R U(k) R U(k) R (mm) W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W W/m2K m2K/W λ= 60 0,53 1,71 0,86 0,99 0,77 1,13 0,37 2,73 0,40 2,33 0,022 80 0,41 2,29 0,76 1,51 0,66 1,35 0,28 3,40 0,29 3,28 0,46 2,00 0,51 1,79 W/mK 100 0,33 2,86 0,70 1,26 0,60 1,50 0,22 4,38 0,23 4,18 0,37 2,50 0,42 2,19 120 0,28 3,43 0,66 1,35 0,55 1,65 0,18 5,39 0,19 5,09 0,30 3,00 0,35 2,59 140 0,24 4,00 0,63 1,42 0,52 1,75 0,27 3,50 0,32 2,97 160 0,21 4,57 0,60 1,50 0,49 1,87 As we can see from the table composite aluminium Thermal Performance of Glass system will decrease dramatically in U-Value insula- 0.45 tion capability of a building for the total life period. 0.4 This will then cause the building to use more energy 0.35 for heating and consequently have an impact on the 0.3 environment in terms of Carbon impact. 0.25 g-value The table on the right also illustrates that Glass 0.2 façade systems have also arrived at the upper limits 0.15 of thermal insulation capability.
