Introduction
A. Letter to Families

Dear Families,

Champion is excited to announce we will be moving for the 2022-2023 school year to 251 East Lake
Brantley Drive Longwood, FL 32779. Our Day school and our school office for all programs will be
located here. We expect to move our office in June, 2022.
Welcome to a whole new world of learning. Schooling at home has just gotten easier and, because
of technology, offers a much higher level of personalization and excellence in education for the
home educator. CPA offers an online Web-based learning environment featuring a media-rich,
online curriculum for grades K through 12. This Web-based curriculum can be accessed through any
internet connection and browser using a personal computer (PC) or Macintosh. With animation,
video clips, and other exciting multimedia, this curriculum will engage your student and create an
enjoyable learning experience.

Unlike traditional textbook curriculums, CPA Online Curriculum has a diverse, vibrant mix of
entertaining lessons, assignments, and quizzes. Fun-filled lessons are created to captivate students'
attention and engage them in learning. Interactive learning games, web links, and off-computer
projects create opportunities for in-depth study. Automatic grading and lesson planning tools allow
CPA teachers to easily set calendar dates for semester or year-long schedules. Our online
curriculum offers all core subjects, plus a variety of exciting electives, which can be used as part of
a core curriculum, a summer school option, credit recovery, or specialized courses. There are over
120 Courses and 35 electives to choose from. Most electives are for grades 7-12.

New for the 2022-2023 School Year: We are offering a K-AA degree online private school with a
mentor assigned to each student and a certified teacher available to help your student when they
need help with academics.

CPA Online Curriculum can accommodate a range of students — regardless of their proficiency
levels. At-risk students have more opportunities to review and practice to establish baseline skills.
Mainstream students can explore concepts more thoroughly to acquire a deeper understanding.
Advanced students can tackle more challenging problems to extend their knowledge. Lastly, the
assessment-guided content helps provide individualized instruction to students. Students and
parents can gauge student progress throughout the year using online diagnostic tests that report
results for your student or take advantage of individual study plans that are automatically
generated in each subject. Students may choose remedial, basic, honors or AP courses or College.

Blessings,

Ms. Vicki Phillips, MA
Founder/Executive Director

Introduction
B. Introduction to Champion Preparatory Academy
We know that if you have never been introduced to the many opportunities and methods of learning, all of this
may be confusing to you. Just remember that all families enrolled in any of our programs are enrolled in
Champion Preparatory Academy, our fully accredited private school. Being a private school, we have the right to
decide how we wish to conduct school. Champion just happens to have selected several ways to help you
accomplish your school objectives: homeschool; attend school online; or attend our on-campus day school, full or
part-time. All of the options can be great educational options, but you need to decide which option will work best

C. Mission Statement
At Champion Preparatory Academy we want to partner with parents to inspire their children to be college-
prepared, character witnesses for Christ. With the Lord as our guide, we are committed to equipping our
students and families to be confident in what they believe and able to defend their faith in love, boldly, and
unashamedly.

D. Vision Statement
Champion exists to cultivate parental involvement in the educational process of their children. We strive to instill
students with a biblical worldview and the passion to stand firm and articulate boldly in defense of their faith, to
guide them into independent learning, and to train our students to always give themselves fully to the work of
the Lord because their labor will not be in vain.
Truth is revealed by God through Christ “in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Colossians 2:3

E. Statement of Faith
Families must be in agreement with the following Statement of Faith that guides the ministry of Champion
Preparatory Academy:
 There is one sovereign God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
 There is one way of salvation: faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God, who lived as a man, died for the sins of all
men, and was resurrected so that all who believe in their hearts, and confess Jesus as Lord with their mouths
    will be saved.
 There is one book of truth: the Bible, God’s written revelation to man, authoritative, reliable, and inerrant,
without the need of any document to complete the message.
 There is one body: the church with its many parts acting in unison.

F. Statement of Policy
It is the opinion of the Board of Directors that our policies are fair and just. Each family enrolled in Champion
Preparatory Academy programs has acknowledged their responsibility to the organization and obligated
themselves to the fulfillment of its policies. The expectations are of responsible compliance to reasonable
standards, which allows for grace, but also enforces just consequences when violations occur.

G. Non-Discriminatory Policy
Champion admits students of any race, color, ethnic or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and
activities extended to students. Champion does not discriminate in the administration of its policies or
educational programs.
Champion Preparatory Academy aspires to create a friendly, pleasant, and challenging school environment for
its students - an environment where sensitivity, respect for others, and hard work are valued. As a college
preparatory school, Champion Preparatory Academy intends to thoroughly prepare its students for further
education, encouraging them to strive for excellence, yet paying attention to their individual needs. It is hoped
that the atmosphere of the school will encourage students to enjoy a variety of activities and experiences and
take pride in the quality, Christ-centered education at Champion Preparatory Academy.
                                                                                                                     4

Online Curriculum
OPTION 1: COMPASS ONLINE CURRICULUM (K-5)

This online program is one of the best programs available for teaching reading skills and math. We use the
Compass Learning Odyssey curriculum for our K-5 Online courses.

Reading/Language Arts:
Reading/Language Arts focuses on these five building blocks in a comprehensive curriculum that interweaves
listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This reading and language arts program supports each student’s
learning style and level of achievement. Reading/language arts skills are essential for every child. And the latest
research tells us that a strong reading program is built on four components:
1.Phonemic awareness
2.Phonics
3.Fluency
4.Vocabulary comprehension
The interactive conversational interface engages students more deeply in the learning process, whether they are
learning phonics or reading a novel. For young readers, a systematic and explicit instruction in phonics,
meaningful instruction in context, and direct instruction in decoding and comprehension with unique decodable
readers is offered. The decodable readers are "versions" of the unit story designed with components that assist
struggling readers with the text. As students progress from learning to read, to reading to learn, Reading/
Language Arts develops their comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. The reading activities provide standards-
based explicit instructional strategies, systematic teaching, modeling, and ample opportunities for students to
practice and experience success.

Writing Tools:
How do students become good writers?
Practice, practice, practice.
Like playing the cello or speaking fluent French, developing strong writing skills takes practice. Our CPA Online
Academy has a word-processing program enriched with everything a student needs to become a confident
writer: note cards, mind maps, templates, and more. Writer’s Corner (Kindergarten) and Story Creator (Grades 1)
feature interactive learning environments where students learn to read, write, and express their thoughts. Children
create their own unique stories with characters, scenery, and vocabulary words of their choosing.

Math:
The Math curriculum will lead students through the exciting and challenging landscape of math. Young students
must acquire fundamental math skills to build a meaningful context for more advanced knowledge. Math
demystifies the world of numbers and engages them in math’s fascinating challenges and puzzles. The interactive
approach brings the world of math alive with highly engaging skill-building activities. These lessons employ real-
world contexts in which students can apply ideas, tools, and manipulatives.

Science:
Grades 1 & 2 : The Online Science curriculum gives students an interactive and engaging way to build scientific
core knowledge and tie academic content to real-world exploration and application.
●Supplements existing curriculum with engaging activities in physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science
●Addresses science theory, principles, concepts, and real-world applications
●Teaches students how to gather, organize, and interpret data

Social Studies:
Grades 1& 2: Social Studies engages students in the world around them. The more in tune students are with their
history, their government, and the society of the world around them, the more successful they'll be as students —
and eventually, as adults. The Online Social Studies brings those topics to life, illustrating their relevance to today's
students in a way that is engaging and interactive.
●Is aligned to state standards
●Reflects the very latest confirmed research about how students engage, think & learn
●Includes powerful summative and formative assessment tools that measure progress and prescribe
individualized learning paths
                                                                                                                     6
●Promotes exploration, cooperative learning, problem solving, reflection, and real-world connections, all

essay lessons and exams. Students must enroll in CPA Homeschool Academy.

Placement Testing
Is provided for 3rd through12th grade at no extra cost. Placement testing can be used to determine if your
student has gaps in their education, so we can assign just the right curriculum to fill in any gaps. Placement testing
is optional.

History and Geography
Is a complete, Bible-based curriculum. The goal of these courses is to develop students' understanding of and
appreciation for God's activity as seen in the record of man and his relationships. The curriculum targets this goal
by focusing on six major themes: Geography (World and American), History (World History and Religious History),
Government and Citizenship, Economics, and Social Studies.

practical Christian living. The Bible curriculum provides seven major themes: Theology, Attributes of God, Biblical
literature, Biblical geography, Christian growth, Christian evidence, and a special emphasis for each grade level.

Language Arts
Targets the sequential development of communication skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Because
Language Arts is an integrated program, the elementary grades weave skill topics (Reading, Writing, Listening,
Speaking) together within units. In the middle and high school grades, skills are developed unit by unit. The major
strands are detailed as follows: Reading (Vocabulary, Comprehension Skills, Literature Studies), Writing (Spelling,
Penmanship, Grammar, Composition).

Science
Is an exciting, Bible-based curriculum for grades 3-12. Students develop observational skills as they study the
physical universe God created. The program involves a combination of on- and off-computer assignments,
including experiments. Elementary and middle-school, grades (3-9), observe each area of science on an
individual survey basis, usually unit by unit. The high school grades (10-12), focus on specific areas of science—
Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The four major strands are as follows: Life Science (Plants and Animals, Human
Anatomy and Personal Care, Biology), Space and Earth Science (Geology, Weather, Space), Physical Science
(Chemistry, Physics), Nature of Science (Scientific Method, Experimentation, Technology).

Math
Is a comprehensive, easy-to-use curriculum for grades 3-12. Students will develop and build math skills through
various question formats, multiple exercise techniques, and fun learning games. This motivating math curriculum
prepares students for using math successfully in real-life situations. Concepts are developed through grade levels
to endure mastery. The curriculum targets this goal by focusing on six major themes: Number Skills, Geometry,
Algebra, Data Analysis, and Precalculus. High School Math offers: Math Review, Pre-Algebra, Pre-Geometry,

Apex Learning has designed its digital curriculum with multiple course pathways, each designed to meet specific

graduates for college and work. The courses in these three pathways share a common scope and sequence and
cover the same rigorous, standards-based content.

Foundations Courses
Foundations courses meet the needs of both high school students and transitioning middle school students who
are not prepared for grade-level academic challenges. Specifically developed for students ages13 and older,
Foundations courses provide structured remediation in math, reading, and writing.

Prescriptive Courses
Unit pretests ensure students focus where they need the most support. These are great for credit recovery.

credits toward graduation. While Core courses assume readiness for grade-level academic challenges, they also
include targeted scaffolding for students who benefit from additional learning support.
