reunions and the world’s largest all-Ford show and swap meet.

50 YEARS OF THE BULLITT MUSTANG (Building T)
It’s been 50 years since Steve McQueen’s famous high speed chase scene
in the movie “Bullitt.” There were two 1968 Mustang GTs used in the movie
and the one driven by McQueen recently surfaced after a 40 year hiberna-
tion. It is currently on tour and is being honored not only at special events
but by Ford Motor Company with a new Bullitt edition Mustang. Ford has
offered the Bullitt package on 2001, 2008, 2009 and now the 2019 models.
The Bullitt package is based on the GT model and has numerous perfor-
mance upgrades and appearance changes. See several years of the Bullitt in
Building T and the new model in the Expo Center (free shuttle from Gate 3).

50 YEARS OF THE TORINO (Building T)
The Torino ran from 1968 to 1976 and had a great racing history in
NASCAR with the Torino Talladega and the Torino King Cobra. The
Torino had its share of the lime light in pop culture with appearances in
the Starsky & Hutch TV series and movie as well as the Clint Eastwood
movie, “Gran Torino,” and in the 2009 edition of Fast & Furious. See many
variations of the Torino in Building T.

In 1968 Ford Motor Company introduced the Cobra Jet engine. The Cobra
Jet, or “CJ,” was a beefed-up performance version of the 428 FE. There
was also a Super Cobra Jet (SCJ) which became standard equipment
when buyers ordered the “Drag Pack” option. In 2008 Ford reintroduced
the Cobra Jet engine as a modern 5.4L V8 equipped with a 2.3L super-
charger and other performance upgrades. Along with the 2008 engine,
Ford introduced a special 50-car run called 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet aka the
FR500CJ race car which came equipped with the modern CJ engine. The car
was so popular, Ford Performance built additional 50-car batches in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016.

In the late 1960s Shelby was a name synonymous with special edition Fords. Carroll Shelby and
his team of engineers tinkered with a number of Ford Mustangs which would come to be adorned with
Shelby name plates like the GT350 and GT500. There were no Shelby Mustangs more famous than
the GT500KR. The KR in GT500KR stands for “King of the Road” and that name still stands tall today
in muscle car markets. Equipped with the 428 Cobra Jet engine, these were instant hits once you
pressed the accelerator. Since 1968 this has become one of the most sought after Shelbys for collec-
tors and enthusiasts alike. See the GT500KR’s as part of this year’s Cobra Jet display in Building T.

20 YEARS OF THE FORD FOCUS (Building T)
The Ford Focus, which originally debuted in Europe for the 1998 model
year, took the small car market by storm in the early 2000s. It won the
North American Car of the Year in 2000 and, most recently, the 2017 Focus
RS was named Autoguide’s Car of the Year. The Focus experienced racing
fame beginning with the 1999 Monte Carlo Rally in which it racked up
numerous wins, championships and manufacturer’s titles. That early fame
transferred into many video games and the emerging younger car enthusi-
ast markets. It was part of the Fast & Furious franchise and family hits such as
Shaggy Dog. It also became the highlight of many motorsports videos piloted
by driver and professional hooner, Ken Block. From 2002 to 2004 Ford built several special editions
including an SVT version, Kona Edition (partnership with Kona Bikes) and a Sony edition. See the
