We can be excited about the future magazine app: mbmag.me/ios again, but doing so requires a certain attitude; more than mbmag.me/android just having faith in progress, we need to be courageous, be aware of our responsibilities, and embrace the unknown. For this issue, this curiosity took us to China to the booming city of Chongqing. With us to explore the largest metropolitan region in the world was Li Na, Asia’s tennis superstar. The second iteration of the me Convention, which took place in Stockholm in September, showed that there’s every reason to be optimistic about what’s to come. It was a diverse meeting of the minds. Six principles of design These guidelines both inspire and challenge the designers at Mercedes-Benz: Unexpected moments Designing icons and casting them in a sensual light! Highly emotional experiences and pleasant surprises create joy in the unexpected, extra ordinary and sublime. Inspiring contrasts Emotion and intelligence are the poles between which designers search for the harmony in stimulating contrasts. Strong proportions Good design is pre- dicated on impressive proportions and powerfully expressing harmony and coherence. Shapes & geometry Expression of sculptural, three-dimensional surfaces: form is based on clear, basic geometric principles, which are perfected by sensual, sculptural surfaces. Significant graphics Precision, refinement and high-tech can be experienced visually. They interact with sensual forms in an exciting way. Fine and precise details create accents in the sensual and sculptural vehicle bodies.
