OOTS present an English idyll bookended with seminal
works by J.S. Bach. Vaughan Williams’ complex Oboe
Concerto is the antithesis of his expansive, folk-infused
Dives and Lazarus. In O Albion, Thomas Adès evokes a
Beethoven quartet refracted through Elgar’s Nimrod.
Thea Musgrave’s Green explores conflict and opposing

An Evening with
Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards
Great Britain’s first Olympic ski jumper, Eddie ‘The
Eagle’ Edwards competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics
in Calgary. With the UK firmly backing the plasterer
from Gloucestershire, Eddie took to the slopes
followed by a whirlwind of international press but
unfortunately came last in both his events. Although
he did not win an Olympic medal, his determination
and ‘have a go’ attitude won a place in the hearts of
spectators around the globe, and went on to inspire
the Eddie the Eagle feature film.
A true example of a heroic failure, Eddie’s achievements
and perseverance continue to be an inspiration to all on
how to succeed against all the odds. Join Eddie, here at

landed on his feet in the end, even if it wasn’t in quite
the same style as his sporting rivals.

New Towns, Our Town (U)
In the years since the first New Towns Act was passed the
towns it created have been both praised as modern-day
utopias and dismissed as failed social experiments. This

following generations. Promotional films, TV documentaries,
