Welcome NSW to RACS Month Surgeons’ Specialist Pathway 2018 Provisional Program RACS New South Wales State Committee
INTRODUC TION BY RACS NSW CHAIR The term Surgeons’ Month is recognised across the whole of the College of Surgeons. This is a testament to the work of the past NSW Chairs and their Committees. For 2018 our State Committee and Office has been given the following key result areas; • Build / maintain relationships with key stakeholders • Have activities that involve medical students, surgical interest groups, junior doctors, Trainees, IMGs, Younger Fellows and Maori, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders • Align our activities with the RACS vision of supporting and enhancing the contribution of surgeons to the broader community, surgical education, research and practice As Chair overseeing Surgeons’ Month 2018 (SM18), it is my intention to host five core multi stakeholder events throughout the month of November, utilising the skills and strengths of Committee members, Staff and Stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes. These events will cover the majority of our required stakeholders with selected additional activities to be included to cover stakeholders outside of the majority. The purpose of Surgeons’ Month is to achieve the strategic objectives of RACS and the key result areas of the State Committee and Office. It is to engage with our Fellows, Trainees, IMGs and College Stakeholders, developing the service we provide whilst increasing interaction with the NSW State Committee. Surgeons’ Month will have the same format as previous years with one major event per week as well as supporting other events, both in the NSW office and externally in NSW. The NSW Committee looks for ongoing opportunity to benefit our Fellows, Trainees and IMGs, as well as other stakeholders within NSW, and Surgeons’ Month is the main flagship to undertake this.
