International Inner Wheel Election Nominations 2022/23 An Important note on Canvassing from IIW Executive “Our members decided at the Virtual Convention 2021, that canvassing / asking for votes is no longer forbidden in Inner Wheel. Let’s remember that by being an IW member, friendship comes first, also at elections. We don’t have to humiliate or boo our friends when competitors or if we disagree. It’s what we can offer to the world through IW, not what other candidates can’t do that counts. At elections for national officers, candidates are asked to behave in the same, positive way. If we have friends canvassing for us, they should act with decency as well. If things are getting out of proportion and our first objective of friendship is violated, these breaches will draw negative attention to our organisation. We have to remember that we are not a political party. The use of social media must be handled with utmost care; reality shows that the keys to our mobile phones are often too easy to use. We can meet this new challenge with dignity and pride; we have a rather long voting period, where canvassing is allowed. So, be a friend, also at elections” 03

International Inner Wheel Election Nominations 2022/23 Name: Cinzia Tomatis Club: Ancona-Riviera del Conero District: 209 Country: Italy Approx members: 6,160 From a Rotarian father and an Inner Wheel member mother, I only had one path: Present Office International Inner Wheel. N/A It has now been more than 20 years since I made that choice, since I was brought to actively Past Offices Held in Inner Wheel participate in acts of service. From the very Club President 2004/05 beginning, I never confined myself within the borders of the Club, rather I have immediately Club International Service Organiser 2003/04, 2016/17 expanded to District activities, to then move onto the National level, and to the International Club Correspondent 2014/15, 2015/16 by participating in the Conventions as a proxy District Chairman 2011/12 vote-holder. District Vice Chairman 2010/11 District International Service Chairman or Although I have always been part of associations Organiser 2008/09, 2009/10 where helping others was the main priority, Inner Wheel has contributed to my development into a much more globally conscientious woman National Representative always ready to welcome new points for confrontation. 2019/2020, 2020/21 The vision that I have for IIW is one of interconnectedness. We have to stimulate each and every single Club to engage and to be present, not only within their own District, but also on a more global scale. I would like for IIW to be a forum of exchange of thought and a safe space for women all over the world. What I believe is needed in an Association like ours is more of a managerial culture: even though we work on a volunteer basis, there should be a systematic plan in place for services and projects to happen. It should not just be about getting things done, rather there should be a more conscious component to it. As a potential Board Director, I am thrilled to “do what matters, now”. 16

For those families, education meant 2019/20, 2020/21 a better and brighter future in their home country, especially for girls. Our UN Representatives do a phenomenal job keeping us informed on the plight of women and children in impoverished countries. Many of you are making a difference in those very countries. It has been my privilege to be a voting delegate to 4 international conventions. I was honored to serve as a Trustee of the IWUSA Foundation for 9 years, two of those years as Chairman. As we move towards our 100th anniversary - I ask you to: Invite friends to a meeting. Meet with a Purpose. Collaborate and Nurture to keep clubs engaged. Treat others as you wish to be treated. 21
