But we should not overlook the impact the G.I. Bill of Rights had in changing and expanding the Middle Class in the years since World War 2. This course will explore the G.I. Two days later, their friend Winnie Ruth Judd took a night train to Los Angeles. She had two trunks with her, which she left at the station. The trunks had a strong odor and “fluids” exuded from them. When police opened them, one had a female body and the other had a female body cut into segments to fit the trunk. Judd was arrested, tried for murder, found guilty and sentenced to death. Over 100,000 Japanese people were rounded up. Poston held about 17,000 of them and Gila River held another 13,000+, making them the 3rd and 4th largest cities in the state! Lawrence AFTER Arabia (ZOOM) Evans, James T.E. Lawrence became famous as "Lawrence of Arabia." In 1935, “Lawrence of Arabia” died in a motorcycle crash in England. One B-24 “Hot Stuff” had just become the first to complete a 25 mission tour in Europe. Lt Gen Frank Andrews had just replaced Eisenhower atop the American military effort in Europe. S1205 Twin Tragedies at Fairchild AFB Washington Evans, James In June 1994, Fairchild AFB near Spokane WA was the site of a tragic hospital attack and a very preventable aircraft crash, both of which resulted in many fatalities. It was a horrible week. When the war ended, many found second careers as cargo haulers and fire fighters. On 16-17 May 1943, a small number of RAF Bombers successfully attacked and destroyed several of these massive dams. We will tell the story of the special aircraft, the unique weapons and the brave young men who carried out this attack. S1211 Danger UXB (Unexploded Bomb) - WW II Evans, James We will survey several episodes of the 1979 ITV series by John Hawkesworth about the bomb disposal units of the British Royal Engineers in early WW II. S3005 Adventures in Monoprints Brasch, John Using a printing method developed by the presenter, attendees will learn the basics of creating monoprints with unique materials. Previously, the number of prescriptions for opioid medications quadrupled between 1999 and 2010. This startling statistic was paralleled by a quadruple increase in the number of overdose deaths. Since 2010, although prescriptions for opioids have dropped dramatically (due to government oversight of physicians); there has been a continued meteoric rise in overdose deaths. S6007 What About You? You Care for Others, Who Is Caring for YOU? (ZOOM) Montijo, Nydia We are noticing an escalating trend of caregivers burning out, getting injured, manifesting their own negative health conditions and some are even dying. We have crafted this workshop specifically to give back to you. We go over the physical and emotional toll of being a caregiver and help identify factors of self-neglect. Keeme, Sheryl From journalist to nonprofit fundraiser, from email writer to content manager, Sheryl Keeme moved from reporting the news to raising funds, creating content, and finally, helping others get their stories into print and up on Amazon. She helps people commit their story to words; create the book layout, cover, and other mechanical aspects of publishing, and to publish their memoirs, business books, novels, or whatever their untold content is. Kenny, Mary Mary is a long-time New Adventures member and volunteer. She has presented several field trips to local points of interest as well as roundtable discussions covering a variety of topics.
